The best armor for Chapter 1 is the Hunter's Armor, especially when reinforced with Diamond Armor Reinforcements. For Chapter 2, aim for the Dragon Scale Armor, purchasable from Mael near Vergen's front gates. Hoard Orens by selling non-essential items to afford this expensive upgrade.

Chapter 1 Armor: Hunter's Armor

The Hunter's Armor is the best armor set for Chapter 1. You can obtain its schematic by resolving the "Troll trouble" quest by helping the troll. This choice also grants you money and a relatively strong steel sword found in a hut southeast of the troll.

To maximize its effectiveness, purchase the Diamond Armor Reinforcement Diagram from Sendler in Lobinden. Craft at least three for the Hunter's Armor. You will need nine in total for a full playthrough. This significantly increases survivability.

• Kill Harpies during Act II and collect their feathers, which sell for 9 Orens each.
• Collect Kaedweni swords at the end of Act II, selling for 30 Orens each.

Chapter 3 Armor: Vran Armor

If you obtain the Vran armor, a prize for finishing the "Mystic River" questline, along with a good steel sword like the Forgotten Vran Sword, the final fights become less challenging.
