Thin Ice Biome

Learn about the Thin Ice Biome in Terraria, how it breaks when weight is applied, and how to mine it safely.

Thin ice in Terraria appears as, well, thin ice. You can mine it with your pickaxe. More notably, it functions like the thin ice found in the Snow Biome. If you drop more than a few tiles onto it, it starts breaking.

This can be quite dangerous because these patches tend to be quite high in vertical length. So you'll die if you don't double jump or use your Grappling Hook (a tool that allows you to attach to surfaces) to latch onto it before falling to your death.
