Phases:

  1. Phase 1: The Gauntlet

You'll face Kvar alongside three Energy Stones. The Energy Stones have significantly less HP and defense than Kvar, making them your primary targets. Kvar will use a mix of short-range attacks like 'Lightning Strike' and long-range spells like 'Lightning' and 'Spark Wave'.

  2. Phase 2: Kvar Alone (Potentially)

Once the Energy Stones are defeated, Kvar becomes the sole focus. If he enters Over Limit mode, he gains a devastating short-range attack called 'Guardian Shield'. While he's more of a magic-user and has lower defense, he's surprisingly difficult to stagger.

Strategy:

  • Your main goal is to eliminate the three Energy Stones as quickly as possible. They might have less HP, but they can still overwhelm your party if you ignore them.
  • A good combo to start with is a basic 4-hit combo followed by Lv1 Tiger Blade and then Lv2 Sword Rain: Alpha (or Sonic Sword Rain). At around level 22-23, this combo should deal about 1,400 damage to each Energy Stone.
  • Don't be afraid to use items! Potions, gels, and anything else you have are fair game here.
  • Try to keep Kvar at bay or focus on him only when you can safely do so without taking too much damage from the Stones.
  • When Kvar uses his Over Limit mode, watch out for 'Guardian Shield'. It's incredibly powerful.
  • Kvar is a magic-heavy enemy, so while his defense isn't the highest, staggering him can be tricky.
  • If you can land a combo that leads into Sword Rain: Alpha, try to unleash Unison Attacks right before Lloyd performs the uppercut. This will maximize your damage output.

After the battle, you'll find yourself back in Asgard. Before leaving, make sure to visit Harley in the SE most house in the E side of town. Speak to her in the E room to get the 'Figurine Book' and 'Pellets x6'.

Next, head to the House of Salvation and then travel South to Hakonesia Peak. You'll need a Pass to get through the gate guarded by soldiers. The item shop in Asgard supposedly sells them for a hefty 100,000,000 Gald – good luck with that! If you don't have the Pass, head back to Asgard and talk to the traveler at the bottom of the stairs, then return to the House of Salvation. From there, head North to Lake Umacy, enter it for a scene, and then proceed to Izoold.

In Izoold, rest up at the Inn. On the E side of town, you'll find the 'Deep Blue' shop. Restock on any items you might need, especially after the Sword Dancer fight. Talk to the dog near the entrance using Colette as your avatar. Then, head into the house on the E side of town and check the NE corner to learn the 'Rice Ball' recipe from Wonder Chef. Visit the house to the W of that one and speak with the two people inside. Go to the docks and talk to Max at the S end. Speak with the man NW of Max, then return to Max. Talk to the kid near the docks entrance, who'll mention Max's affection for Lyla. Go to Lyla's house, speak with her, then speak with the man in front of her house. Return to Lyla's, and a scene will trigger. Head back to Max for another scene, and then talk to him when you're ready to sail to the southern part of the continent.

Note: Before you speak with Lyla, make sure to talk to the fisherman walking around in the first area of Izoold.
