You'll need to track down three key things: a special Seed, some potent Fertilizer, and the Rose Town Gardener. Let's break it down!

How to Get the Lazy Shell Weapon for Mario

The Lazy Shell is Mario's strongest weapon, but you can't just buy it. It's hidden away and requires a bit of questing. The main steps involve getting a Seed, finding some Fertilizer, and then locating the Rose Town Gardener.

Getting the Seed

First up is the Seed. The good news is, you'll naturally get this as part of the main story, so don't sweat it – you won't miss it! After you've taken down the Megasmilax boss in Bean Valley, a Shy Guy will leave behind a little note just north of the warp pipe. Just interact with that note, and boom, you've got your Seed!

Getting the Fertilizer

Next, you'll need to find the Fertilizer. This one's a bit trickier and is located in Nimbus Land. You can only grab it after you've cleared out Nimbus Castle and defeated Valentina. Once that's done, head to the far right side of Nimbus Land town. From the front door of the house there, walk straight south along the edge of the clouds. Then, carefully walk right between the two buildings that have those twisted roots. You'll find yourself on an invisible path that leads to a Shy Guy gardener. He's the same guy who watered Birdo! If you catch him, he'll give you the Fertilizer in exchange for letting him go.

Finding the Rose Town Gardener

Now that you've got both the Seed and the Fertilizer, it's time to head back to Rose Town. Open your map and warp there. Once you arrive, make your way to the northeast part of town. You'll notice a new path has opened up that leads out of town – it's right in the middle. Follow this path, and you'll find a lone house on the outskirts. Inside, there's a Gardener who's been dreaming of the perfect seed and fertilizer. Lucky for him, you've got just what he needs! Hand over the Seed and Fertilizer, and after he's done with his little speech, you'll see a massive beanstalk shoot right out of the top of his house!

Once the beanstalk has grown, leave the house. You can jump up the boxes near the chimney to reach the top. From there, you can climb the beanstalk all the way up into the clouds. At the very top, you'll land on a cloud platform where you'll find both the Lazy Shell Weapon and the Lazy Shell Armor waiting for you!

Just how good is the Lazy Shell? Well, it's the most powerful weapon Mario can wield in the game, packing a massive +90 Physical Damage. For comparison, the next best weapon, the Ultra Hammer, only deals +70 damage. That's a pretty sweet upgrade!
