Czar Dragon Boss Guide

Learn how to defeat Czar Dragon and its second form, Zombone, in Super Mario RPG (2023). This guide covers stats, weaknesses, and strategies for this Barrel Volcano boss.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Czar Dragon: 1,400 HP, weak to Ice, resistant to Fire.
• Zombone: 1,800 HP, weak to Jump and Lightning, resistant to Ice and Fire.
• Helio: 10 HP each, weak to Ice.

Phases:

1. Czar Dragon: This initial form has 1,400 HP and is weak to Ice. Use Mallow's Snowy attack. Beware of Flame Wall (unblockable) and Iron Maiden (causes Fear). Czar Dragon also counterattacks after each player turn, often with a bite. It summons four Helio enemies (10 HP each), which are also weak to Ice and should be defeated quickly to prevent them from dealing significant damage. Focus on reducing Czar Dragon's HP until it retreats into the lava.
2. Zombone: After falling into the lava, Czar Dragon re-emerges as Zombone with 1,800 HP. It is no longer weak to Ice and is resistant to both Ice and Fire. Its weaknesses shift to Jump and Lightning attacks. Zombone's attacks are stronger but do not typically defeat party members in a single turn. Its Scream attack can inflict Fear, which can be healed with Peach's Therapy. Keep the party healed with Peach's Group Hug and Therapy.

Strategy:

• Party Composition: Mallow is crucial for his Ice attacks against Czar Dragon and potentially for healing. Peach is essential for healing and removing Fear. Mario is important for his Jump and Lightning attacks against Zombone.
• Item Usage: The Fearless Pin is highly recommended to mitigate the Fear status effect, which halves attack damage. Peach's Group Hug can heal and remove Fear.
• Attack Focus: Prioritize taking out the Helio enemies quickly in the first phase. In the second phase, focus damage on Zombone using Jump and Lightning attacks while keeping the party's HP high.
• Defense: Be aware of Czar Dragon's Flame Wall and Zombone's various special attacks. While most attacks can be blocked, Flame Wall is unblockable. Keep an eye on party HP, especially after counterattacks.
