Wasteland Shines

Surprise Prizefight: From Crisp Climb Castle, take the large ramp to the upper section. Follow the gold coin rings towards the Giga Bell. Before the first ramp, a side path leads to a small island with a purple switch. Ground Pound to start an arena battle against Cat Goombas and a Spike. A normally invisible Coin Coffer hides between the blocks; Ground Pound to reveal its location. Defeat all enemies to unlock a Cat Shine.

Jump and Thump in the Clouds: Continue following the water trail from the previous Shine, past Splounders. A side path leads to an island with Biddybuds circling wooden crates. These crates hide a red Jump Pad that launches you to invisible cloud platforms and a cloud cannon. Traverse the linear bonus area, defeating all enemies with or without Super Stars, to earn a Cat Shine. Be careful not to move to the next area until all enemies are defeated.

Spin, Scramble, Shine: From the main area, jump over the nearby ramp and find a small island with a wheel. Use the Cat Suit to interact with the wheel, causing a tower to rise. Climb the other two pillars and the newly risen one to reach the Cat Shine.

Toad Brigade: Hot Pursuit: Travel to the summit of Mount Magmeow. On the back side, drop down to where a Toad Brigade member is being harassed by a Conkdor. Roll into the brick below the Conkdor to defeat it and free the Toad, earning a Cat Shine.

Gazing Down at Lava: Reach the top of Mount Magmeow. Stand on the smaller peak and wait for the moving island in the sky to align with your position. Use the Cat Suit to climb the wooden plank onto the island and grab the Cat Shine.

Wasteland Rabbit Plays Tag: To the right of the entrance to Mount Magmeow, find a rabbit on a small island. Catch the rabbit as it runs around Mount Magmeow (avoiding the hot sides) to receive a Cat Shine.

On the Floodgate’s Edge: Go to Pipe Path Tower and use a Propeller Block or the Tanooki Suit to float down to the top of the large wall with Fury Blocks, located in the upper portion of Lake Lapcat. The Cat Shine is at the end of this wall.

Hurry! Slip to the Shine!: Go to the main gate of Pipe Path Tower and board Plessie. Pass through the ring with Plessie’s image to start a time trial that takes place on floating platforms. Reach the end within the time limit to get a Cat Shine. Do not worry about platforms with Coin Rings.

Footprint Free-for-all: On the island with the Wasteland Giga Bell, activate the purple switch in the bottom-left corner (on the map). This triggers a battle arena with Stingbies, Goombas in swimming rings, and Hammer Bros. Use the surrounding POW Blocks to help defeat the enemies and collect the resulting Cat Shine.

Lost Kittens in the Wasteland: On the island with the Wasteland Giga Bell, find the mother cat looking for five lost kittens. Collect all five kittens to earn a Cat Shine.

Kitten #1: Found on the western and slightly southern side of the Giga Bell area.

Kitten #2: South of the Giga Bell, on a long dock with speed.
