Learn the strategy to defeat Fury Bowser in his second boss fight in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. This guide covers his new attack and how to damage him.

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Fury Bowser can only be damaged when he is upside down.
  • You can only damage him by performing a Ground Pound on his back after his ground slam attack.
  • His health will be reduced to about half after one or two hits, depending on your Cat Shine count.

Phases:

  1. Bowser rolls onto his side and begins rolling towards you, maintaining momentum for a bit.
  2. He stops rolling and revs his engine for a final attack.
  3. He stops, jumps away, and prepares a breath attack.
  4. After the breath attack, he performs a ground slam with a shockwave. This is your opportunity to damage him.
  5. Bowser retreats when his health is around half.

Strategy:

  • To trigger this fight, you need at least 15 Cat Shines. Make sure Fury Bowser is out and the Giga Bell is active; collect the Giga Bell to start the battle.
  • Use the islands scattered around the area as cover from Bowser's attacks.
  • When Bowser starts rolling, try to stay behind an island so he rolls over it.
  • After his ground slam attack, he'll be vulnerable. Quickly run up to him and perform a Ground Pound on his back to deal damage.
  • He adds a new move to his rotation in this fight, which he'll use early on. Be prepared for this new attack pattern.
  • Remember, you can only damage him when he's on his side and upside down.
