Navigate Part 12 of Streets of Rage 4 with our comprehensive walkthrough. Learn strategies for mini-boss Jack, the Riot Cop, and Commissioner, including Blaze's best moves.
Walkthrough
- 1Mini-Boss: Jack
Break one of the stands for a Star. Use Basic Combos and Combo Chains. For SOR4 Blaze, use Blitz attacks only if Jack is unarmed or as part of a combo, as thrown knives can interrupt her moves. - 2Riot Cop (End of Stage 2-1)
You cannot hurt or throw the Riot Cop while his shield is active. Destroy the shield first. A common technique is to jump over his baton swings, punch the shield, and repeat. SOR1 Blaze uses Basic Combos. SOR2 and SOR4 Blaze can use Hishousouzan (about two uses) to smash the shield, potentially vaulting over him. SOR3 Blaze uses three Hishousouzans or Chou Reppa Dans, benefiting from the Blitz's invincibility frames (i-frames). SOR3 and SOR4 Blaze can cancel Basic Combos into Blitzes to speed up shield destruction. SOR4 Blaze can use Down Jump to Neutral air combo. Avoid using SOR2 Blaze’s Elbow Smash or SOR4 Blaze’s Rekkaken by itself against the shield. Don't let the Riot Cop activate another shield. - 3Stage 2-2 Enemies
Deal with more Murphys and Barneys. Against Galsia with tasers, avoid SOR2 Blaze’s Elbow Smash; use Hishousouzan, Basic Combo, or Jump Kick. - 4Optional Fight (End of Stage 2-2)
Defeat all the optional Murphys to earn a Star. The number of Murphys varies by difficulty (2 on Easy/Normal, 4 on Hard, 6 on Hardest/Mania/Mania+). - 5Stage 2-3: BOSS - Commissioner
When the Commissioner flashes white, stay away and either above or below to avoid his dashing slam and overhead hooks. If he follows you, he's preparing a quick hook. When he flashes red, he's attempting a grab, setting him up for a combo. Be aware of his minions coordinating attacks, such as a Barney blitz-grabbing you while you fight the Commissioner, or the Commissioner grabbing you while you're distracted by a Barney's taser. - 6SOR1 Blaze: Use Basic Combo (-to-Drill Kick).
- 7Other Blazes: Use Combo Chains.
- 8SOR4 Blaze: Use Basic Combo-to-Hishousouzan, Basic Combo-to-Special, or Basic Combo-to-Rekkaken (-to-Shin Kikou Shou). Only follow up a Combo Chain with Tamashi Age if the Commissioner is against a wall; Shin Kikou Shou is recommended. Avoid Rekkaken against his God Press grab. Hishousouzan can avoid the God Press but is hard to land when he's charging. Air Combo can punish his white-flashing attacks.
- 9SOR2 Blaze: Options include Full Basic Combo-to-Blitz, Basic Combo, Basic Combo-to-Star Move, Jump Kick-to-Haymaker (-to-Star Move) for white-flashing attacks, or (Basic Combo-to-) Spinning Drive-to-Aerial Grab (-to-Tumbling). Avoid Elbow Smash.

- When fighting the Riot Cop, prioritize destroying his shield before attacking him directly.
- Against the Commissioner, be mindful of his grab attempts and the coordinated attacks from his minions.
- Experiment with different Blaze versions and their unique combos to find what works best for each encounter.
