Your friendly guide to Nuvema Town in Pokémon Black and White! Get your starter items, Pokédex, and Town Map before heading out to Route 1.

Alright, welcome to Nuvema Town! This is where your Pokémon adventure kicks off. It's a pretty small place, mainly for getting you set up with the basics. You'll meet the local Pokémon Professor here, and grab some essential gear. Think of it as your home base before you really dive into the world.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
As soon as you get control of your character, head downstairs. Your mom will give you the Xtransceiver, which is like your in-game phone.
  2. 2
Head outside and make your way to Bianca's house, which is usually in the bottom-left corner of town. She'll be super excited about something.
  3. 3
After visiting Bianca, head north to the Pokémon Lab. Professor Juniper will be there to give you your very own Pokédex. Make sure to visit her from time to time later in the game, especially if you're aiming to fill it up – she'll give you rewards for your progress!
  4. 4
Exit the lab, and the Professor will give you the Town Map. This is super handy for navigating the region.
  5. 5
Professor Juniper will then guide you to a nearby patch of grass to show you the ropes of catching Pokémon. You'll also get some Pokéballs to start your journey.
  6. 6
With all your starting items and the catching tutorial done, it's time to head north out of Nuvema Town and onto Route 1.
Tips
  • Don't forget to check back with Professor Juniper periodically. She gives out helpful items based on how many Pokémon you've caught.
  • After you've completed the game, you can actually battle Bianca on Saturdays in the lab. She'll have a tough team of high-level Pokémon, so be prepared if you decide to take her on!
  • Professor Juniper also hands out TMs if you've made good progress in your Pokédex.

Items:

  • Around town: Xtransceiver, Town Map. (You'll get the Super Rod much later, in the postgame).
  • From Professor Juniper: TM54 False Swipe, TM17 Protect, TM10 Hidden Power.
