Speak with Rissa Aberdeen in Berg's market to accept the quest.

Travel to Conflux Mountain in Chersonese. Follow the roads west, then north, then northwest, then west, then south towards a path marked by a stone archway.

Pass the first stone archway and continue up the path to a second stone archway. Do not go through the second archway; instead, take the path to its left.

Follow the path until you find the entrance to the Blue Chamber’s Conflux Path, marked by two blue banners.

Enter the Blue Chamber’s Conflux Path and proceed until you fall down a ledge. Turn right (north), then right again (east) at the next split.

At a junction with three downward slopes, turn right (south) and follow the linear path to the Conflux Chambers doorway.

Enter the chambers, turn south, then west over a bridge. Head towards the Fifth Watcher.

Climb the slope to your right to meet Roland at the top, between the First and Fourth Watchers.

If Roland is imprisoned south of the entrance, kill the Mana Mantis to free him, then meet him at the core of the mountain.

Speak with Roland and accept his request to retrieve his father's item from Starfish Cave by choosing dialogue option two: “Sure, why not. It’s not that far out of the way.”

Use the boat to return to Chersonese. Travel north from your emergence point towards Cierzo, go around Vendavel, and head west to the beach directly south of Cierzo.

Locate Starfish Cave at the center of this beach.

Enter Starfish Cave between 10:00 PM and 4:59 AM.

Navigate to the lower depths of Starfish Cave and defeat the Mantis.

Speak with Roland and choose the most encouraging dialogue options: “Roland, get your chin up. There’s always hope if you keep at it.” and “I can see why you’d come back for this.”

Return to Berg and speak with Gabriella Sullivan in the northeast of the city.

Ensure Roland accompanies you by choosing the dialogue option: “What’s wrong with your Mana? You’re able to summon that sword just fine.”

Speak with Taleron, the smith in Berg, to help Roland control his mana. Provide either a Large Emerald or Medium Ruby, a Mana Stone, and some Blue Sand.

Rest for one hour.

Speak with Roland again and choose the dialogue option: “It’s time to kill that green horror! Meet me at the Cabal of Winds Temple.”

Travel to the Cabal of Winds Temple. From Berg, take the southern exit and follow the main road south along the eastern shore of the lake. Head toward the temple structure. At the road split, take the path southwest up a hill, then west.

Approach the temple from the west for an easy ascent, or enter from the southern side and climb down through the large hole in the ground (an Immaculate may be guarding it).

Inside the temple, use the lever next to the gate to open it, then use the lever to your right to lock yourself in the room with the Shell Horror.

Defeat the Shell Horror.
