Your guide to exploring Cierzo in Outward. Learn how to prepare for your journey, gather essential items, and complete the 'Call to Adventure' quest to pay off your debt.
Walkthrough
- 1Speak with Roland Argenson in Cierzo, choosing encouraging dialogue options if you plan to join the Blue Chamber Collective.
- 2After speaking with Rissa about your family history, head down the hill from your home and speak to the village guard.
- 3Continue into the village centre and speak with the shopkeeper, Doran, to sell unwanted items (but keep food and hides).
- 4Purchase the 'Nomad Backpack' from Doran and equip it, then loot your primitive backpack.
- 5Speak with Doran again and choose 'I’d like to talk' to receive a delivery quest.
- 6Head north to the beach, find the water filtration system and fountain, drink from the fountain, and collect the waterskin.
- 7Return to the village centre and head west towards a wooden walkway leading to the basement of your lighthouse and caves.
- 8Follow the walkway to the door beneath your lighthouse, enter, and loot the items in your basement.
- 9Proceed west into a cave, turn on your lantern, and pick up the mining pick if needed.
- 10Ascend a slope in the cave; at the top, remove your backpack and place it out of harm's way.
- 11Engage the two troglodyte enemies one at a time by luring them down the slope, evading their attacks, and executing combos. If both are pulled, retreat to the storage room and use the boxes to kite them.
- 12After defeating the troglodytes, return to the first cave room, extract iron scraps using your mining pick, and then head southwest to another slope leading to the outer wilderness (do not go down).
- 13Turn east, pick mushrooms in a small opening, and return to the village centre.
- 14Check your inventory for at least one bandage; purchase one from Doran for 3 silver if necessary.
- 15Sell any acquired items from the cave (troglodyte spears, mining picks, tattered clothing) to Doran.
- 16Return to your lighthouse, rest for a few hours to recover and repair equipment.
- 17Head southeast beyond Helmi the Alchemist, find the farmer, turn northeast, and pick up the pitchfork leaning against a stone wall.
- 18Go up the pathway behind the farmer to the town hall; find a great axe leaning against boxes to the right. You can use, sell, or keep these weapons.
- 19Enter the town hall, go upstairs, and loot the chest at the end of the bed.
- 20Exit the town hall, head downhill, turn southeast towards stairs leading to a balcony, and speak with Helen Turnbull to acquire a mushroom collection quest.
- 21Head northeast to the main town gate and speak with the guard, Burac Carillon, to learn a skill (ensure a preferred weapon is equipped).
- 22Inform Burac you want to go outside, select 'Yes' to learn a skill, then open your inventory, navigate to the skills tab, right-click the new skill, and assign it to a quickslot.
- 23Head northeast towards the water filtration system, walk underneath it to the first jetty, and pick up the fishing harpoon at the end.
- 24Return to the beach and use the harpoon to catch fish in the water near the jetty, earning the achievement ‘Hook, Line and…Harpoon?’.
- 25Take the machete from the fish drying rack on the beach.
- 26Return to the cave system beneath your lighthouse, go to the bottom of the slope near the mushroom opening, ignore the danger sign, and jump down to exit into Chersonese, unlocking the achievement ‘Venture Outward’.
- 27Walk along the Chersonese shoreline, gathering seaweed and resources.
- 28Find Michel Aberdeen injured on the beach; speak with him and offer to tend his wounds with a bandage (choose option 2).
- 29Return to Cierzo by heading northeast over the hills and then north through grassland, following the hillside until you see an opening to the beach overview.
- 30Loot the cache beside a tree and stone blocks, then continue northwest along the hills until you reach the main gates of Cierzo.
- 31Rest at your lighthouse for a few hours.
- 32Go to the town hall and speak with Rissa, presenting the writ of favour to pay your debt and complete the ‘Call to Adventure’ quest.
Tips
- Do not sell food items or hides; they will be useful later.
- The 'Nomad Backpack' significantly increases carrying capacity.
- When fighting troglodytes in the cave, take your backpack off to improve maneuverability and prevent damage.
- Try not to be the first to initiate an attack against the troglodytes; wait for them to attack, then evade and counter.
- If you need a bandage, you can purchase one from Doran for 3 silver.
- The skill learned from Burac depends on your equipped weapon; the machete's skill applies a damage-over-time effect.
- Gather seaweed and other resources along the Chersonese shoreline.
