    You start with Alric on a cliff. Engage the few single myrmidons in hand-to-hand combat one at a time, as they do minimal damage.

    Walk down the narrow ramp to the west into the desert valley below.

    Head northwest and encounter more wandering myrmidons.

    You will see a huge army of myrmidons approaching. Stop moving and cast Alric's special spell (hotkey "T") on the first myrmidon. This spell causes a domino effect, destroying units in a chain reaction. Target the unit at the beginning of an imaginary line through the army to maximize its effect.

    After defeating the army, head due south, avoiding going further west where two trow are located.

    As you head south, encounter more individual myrmidons and then another large army. Use Alric's spell again on this army.

    Send a bezerker to the southwest corner. When another large myrmidon army appears from the north, retreat the bezerker to your party.

    Have Alric use his spell on the approaching myrmidon army, ensuring your bezerkers are not too close to the blast. Clean up any stragglers with your men.

    Another myrmidon army will approach from the northwest. Have Alric cast his spell on them, again ensuring your bezerkers are clear of the blast. Clean up any remaining enemies.

    The trow will attack; overwhelm them with your men. Alric is now out of spells and should be used like a bezerker.

    Enter the Greek-like structure and proceed west until you reach the bloody water beach.

    An army of thrall will emerge from the bloody water. Attack them with arrows from a distance, then engage with bezerkers and Alric.

Mission 23: The Last Battle

  1. You begin on a small peninsula. Bunch all units except archers into a box formation. Position archers to engage approaching fetch from the water.
  2. After defeating the fetch, move everyone down the peninsula and west to another Greek-like structure. A myrmidon scout to the north will flee to warn others; do not pursue.
  3. Follow the scout's path to a slope. A bezerker unit will be waiting; follow him up the hill to receive more units and see Alric (uncontrollable).
  4. Move all units away from the standard erected behind Alric. Balor will appear, converse with Alric, and then destroy the standard and anyone too close.
  5. Position archers in a long line at the edge of the hill where Alric was. Set up dwarves to the left and two bezerker groups to the left and right of the archers.
  6. A large army awaits at the base. Thrall will attack first; use archers and dwarves to eliminate most of them.
  7. Myrmidons will attack next; use bezerkers to mop up. Two fetch will arrive; prioritize them with archers.
  8. After clearing the enemies, Alric will suggest following Balor to another structure in the desert valley. Keep your men in formation. Send one bezerker next to Alric to prompt him to move to the structure.
  9. Balor and Alric will converse again. Balor will shower Alric with dwarf heads, indicating the destruction of the rest of the legion. Alric will then destroy a line of myrmidons and retreat.
  10. You will be attacked by armies of fetch and thrall. Prioritize the fetch with archers and defeat the remaining armies. Conserve your bezerkers.
  11. Alric will again state, "we must follow him." Group your bezerkers into two groups of three, with the remainder in a third group.
  12. Alric will ascend a hill overlooking a canyon with a blood pool. Fetch are positioned in a semicircle on the opposite edge.
  13. Form your archers into a long line on your edge of the bowl. Position the two 3-man bezerker groups to the left and right of the archers, just inside the bowl.

  • Alric's spell is extremely powerful and can eliminate entire armies with a single cast if positioned correctly.
  • When fighting individual myrmidons, using Alric's back-attack maneuver can be effective.
  • In Mission 23, prioritize eliminating fetch units quickly due to their threat to archers.
  • Conserve your bezerkers throughout Mission 23, as they are crucial for later engagements.
  • Balor's explosion near the standard in Mission 23 can be deadly; keep your units away from it.
