    Head east to a ramp with soulless guarding fences. Enter the fortress through a zig-zag pattern (right, left, right).

    Position yourself on a hill to the right of a soulless. Throw a grenade at it, then at the soulless near you. Prepare to fight approaching soulless from the gate. Move diagonally away after throwing grenades. Targeting the ground can be effective.

    Ghols will attempt to sneak up; stay on the plateau to kill them before they reach you.

    To the east is a circular area of wight parts guarded by ghols. Stand on a hill and use a grenade (target ground) to detonate the wight parts, clearing the area.

Secret Mission: A Long Awaited Party

  1. Instead of clearing all ghols around the caves, go to the SE-most cave, which is slightly larger. Entering it triggers the secret mission.
  2. The mission objective is to destroy a large stone worshipped by ghols. If Balin survived the previous mission, he will join you with 9 other dwarves.
  3. As the ghol guard exits the cave, have all dwarves except Balin form a staggered formation down a small slope, parallel to the mountain side.
  4. A red ghol patrol moves counter-clockwise around a hill further north. Have your dwarves lay satchel charges and then form a long line facing down the slope near the cave entrance.
  5. Position Balin to set off the nearest charge with his grenades. Detonate the charges as the patrol steps over them and eliminate any survivors.
  6. Have the 9 dwarves set up another minefield for the gray ghol patrol coming clockwise around the far north hill, then return to the long line formation.
  7. Have Balin detonate this minefield and eliminate survivors. If setting up in time is difficult, let the patrols pass and set up while they circle.
  8. After dealing with both patrols, go to the NW cave and destroy the guard, then do the same for the guard at the NE cave.
  9. North of the NE cave, several ghols guard an entrance on higher ground. Keep your dwarves down and send Balin halfway up the slope.
  10. Have Balin throw a special ability signal bomb in front of the ghols. As smoke appears, move towards the ghols to make them chase Balin. Run back to the halfway point on the slope. The bombing raid should eliminate most ghols.
  11. Clear any survivors and bring everyone up.
  12. You will reach a grassy mountain road heading south. The stone is in the center of a valley, resembling a giant ghol head, surrounded by dozens of chanting ghols. Follow the road down to encounter more ghols and soulless. The ghols will not attack unless you get close.
