BOSS: Ridley

Master the Ridley boss fight in Metroid: Zero Mission! Learn his attacks and the fastest strategy to take him down quickly with Super Missiles.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Ridley has several attacks including fireballs (small and large), a grab-and-fly maneuver, a tail swing, and a tail spear.
• Super Missiles are highly effective, but be careful not to waste them on his fireballs.

Phases:

1. Ridley starts by firing small and large fireballs.
2. He may grab Samus and fly into the air, spitting more fireballs.
3. He uses tail attacks: a swing and a pogo-stick-like spear.
4. The fight concludes quickly with the Super Missile strategy.

Strategy:

• When Ridley first attacks with small fireballs, shoot them down with your basic beam. Don't waste Super Missiles here.
• Jump over the lava pit and position yourself directly underneath Ridley.
• Unload all of your Super Missiles into him. This will severely weaken him.
• Quickly switch to your regular Missiles and fire them all at Ridley until he is defeated. This strategy should end the fight very quickly.
• If Ridley grabs you, rapidly shake left and right to break free.
• To avoid his tail spear attack, stay positioned under the front part of Ridley.
