Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 Part 24 covers the Motorcycle Chase and Raging Raven boss fight. Learn strategies for both lethal and non-lethal approaches.
- 1Follow the resistance member down the main road to the northeast, then take the alleyway to the west.
- 2Follow the southern road until you find a white truck near a side street with three soldiers guarding it. Wait here until the resistance member and two PMCs (Private Military Contractors) reach your position.
- 3When they reach you, the resistance member and two PMCs will head west towards a white van. The resistance member will then cross the street into an alley.
- 4Follow him into the alley and lie prone. A patrol car will drive by; remain hidden.
- 5After the patrol car passes, crawl along the sidewalk, stopping for any approaching vehicles, until you see the resistance member enter a dead-end street.
- 6After discarding his PMC uniform, the resistance member will reach the resistance headquarters.
003.4 - Motorcycle Chase
This section can be either extremely fun or devastatingly difficult, especially if you are aiming for a no-kill game to earn better rankings.
Remember you can switch to auto-aiming by pressing the Square button, and you can hide behind EVA by pressing the Triangle button.
Lethal Approach:
Play this section similarly to the tank scene at the end of Act Two. Any weapons you use have unlimited ammo during this sequence. Pick a machine gun with a large clip, hold L1 and R1, and shoot anything that moves, except the black van. In later parts, focus more on the Haven Troopers than Raging Raven, as they are more likely to defeat you. You should not have too much trouble staying alive through to the boss fight.
Non-Lethal Approach:
This is much more difficult than the scene in Act Two, as most threats in this section are living enemies rather than machines. Raging Raven's sliders are the least of your worries; the Haven Troopers and patrol vehicles will quickly deplete your life gauge if left unchecked. Your Mk2 weapon does not shoot fast enough to be effective, and the Twin Barrel shotgun must be reloaded after every shot, making neither ideal for crowd control. Equip Stun Grenades for when the motorcycle stops or large groups of Haven Troopers gather.
Focus on limiting damage rather than clearing every area. Pay special attention to the three patrol vehicles that appear after Raging Raven, as they can easily take away half your life on The Boss Extreme and Big Boss Hard difficulties. If you can take cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) behind EVA and shoot the gunners without getting hit, you will have a good chance of surviving, even if your Twin Barrel can only take out one in every five or six Haven Troopers.
The reward for surviving the motorcycle sequence is a battle with Raging Raven.
003.5 - Echo's Beacon
Boss: Raging Raven
Raging Raven is an annoying boss because you spend most of the time waiting for an opportunity to attack. The battle takes place in a tower with four or five stories; stay exclusively on the highest level at all times. Since you start on the ground floor, run up immediately after picking up any items. Otherwise, Raven will crash through walls and perform quick attacks that inflict significant damage, and there are few consistent hiding spots as she attacks from all directions.
Once at the top, equip any rifle with a scope, such as the M14 or SVD, and crouch just inside the doorway leading outside. Raging Raven and her Sliders will be flying around, making them difficult to hit due to their constant movement. It becomes easier once you learn to aim ahead to register a hit. If Raging Raven is out of sight, destroy some Sliders. Raven will become angry and eventually appear. You may be tempted to venture outside to be more aggressive, but this is likely fatal, as she will launch missiles and knock you off the tower before you can pinpoint her location. Staying in the doorway is safer, as attacks can only come from one direction, and you can use the inside of the room as cover. When Raven appears, quickly aim and shoot her out of the air before ducking back inside to avoid her attack.
If you call Otacon, he will reveal that Raven's weapon overheats if used too much, she forgets to let it cool down when angry, and she gets angry when you destroy her Sliders. If you are willing to use extra ammo, shoot the Sliders to send Raven into a rage, causing her weapon to temporarily malfunction. When this happens, Raven will land on a rooftop, providing an easy shot.
Boss: Raging Beauty
This boss is identical to the previous Beauty.
