Navigate Part 16 of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, including the Advent Palace and the fight against Haven Troopers.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Crawl through the streets, being mindful of an explosive barrel near a wrecked car. Destroy it beforehand or back away when stray bullets hit it to avoid incineration.
  2. 2
Enter the building at the end of the street, which is the Advent Palace.
  3. 3
Use the Solid Eye (a visual enhancement) to spot claymore mines and sleeping gas bombs planted around the four floors, especially on the stairs.
  4. 4
Crawl to pick up the traps or use the MK.II (a remote-controlled drone) to disarm them.
  5. 5
Explore the Palace for various items, including ammo, health items, and a new iPod song. Collect the sleeping gas mines for later use.
  6. 6
Reach the roof, pick up items in the bar, and enter the hallway to trigger a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) introducing the Rat Patrol, including Meryl and Johnny (Akiba).
  7. 7
After discussing mission details, Haven Troopers will attack. Equip your M4 or MK2 and hide behind the bar.
  8. 8
The Haven Troopers wear body armor on their torsos; aim for headshots to save time and ammo. Avoid friendly fire if Meryl's team members walk in front of you.
  9. 9
Alternatively, hide in the hallway and use the MK.II to stun Haven Troopers as they appear. This is a good non-lethal strategy.
  10. 10
After clearing the roof, follow the team to the third floor for another battle. Stay near the team and take out enemies.
  11. 11
You can use the MK.II from the restaurant/bar area, going through the kitchen to reach the combat zone, to stun enemies.
  12. 12
Follow Meryl's team into the next room, even if enemies remain; Ed will cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) stragglers.
  13. 13
In the bar area, deal with more enemies. Jonathan and Ed will handle threats from behind, while you and Meryl focus on enemies at the window and door. Johnny will be of little help.
  14. 14
The MK.II is less effective here as Haven Troopers may notice and shoot it, but it remains a viable non-lethal option.
  15. 15
Follow the team along the balcony and down to the second floor. Enemies will attack from the second and third floors.
  16. 16
Meryl will stop near a cracked wall with laser tripwires. Fight the Haven Troopers attacking.
  17. 17
A stun grenade will knock out Akiba. Crouch near him and press the action button to wake him up.
  18. 18
After Johnny is awake and enemies are cleared, follow the team through the broken wall. Johnny will disarm the laser trap.
  19. 19
Follow the team down to the first floor and stand in a doorway behind the bar.
  20. 20
A tank will burst through the wall, followed by numerous Haven Troopers. Use the bar for cover and eliminate them.
  21. 21
Meryl will leave you to finish off the remaining few enemies. Clear the area and follow her to the elevator.
  22. 22
A cutscene will play as the team descends the elevator shaft. Follow them into the final area.
  23. 23
Another cutscene shows the Rat Patrol eliminating an ambush. Meryl will explain more about nanomachines and give Snake the location of...
Tips
  • The Solid Eye is crucial for spotting traps like claymore mines and sleeping gas bombs.
  • Using the MK.II for non-lethal takedowns is recommended for no-kill or Big Boss emblem runs.
  • Focusing on headshots against Haven Troopers is the most efficient way to conserve ammo and time due to their body armor.
  • Don't get left behind by Meryl's team; keep up with them to avoid missing combat encounters.
  • Johnny, while often unhelpful, will disarm a laser trap after you clear the area near the bathrooms.
