Learn how to efficiently take down gangsters, blow up vehicles for profit, restore Tommy's health, and find hidden cars in Part 23 of the Mafia: The Old Country walkthrough.
Combat Tactics:
- Equip the Thompson 1928 to stop enemy vehicles by parking in front of them.
- When police are absent, position Tommy near the driver's door and aim at the driver and passenger. Shoot the driver in the head or upper body, then quickly shoot the passenger before they can react.
- Killing gangsters in a Wright Coupe Gangster allows you to take their fast car.
- Be aware that nearby gangsters will join an attack if Tommy engages one.
Blowing Up Vehicles:
- Tommy receives $100 for each vehicle he destroys.
- To destroy a vehicle, stand at a safe distance and shoot the front grill, or the side of the engine/gas tank area on some cars. Black smoke indicates an impending explosion.
- Grenades or Molotov Cocktails can be used, costing $1,000 each. Use caution with grenades due to their blast radius.
- To offset the cost of explosives, Tommy can park in traffic to create a batch of vehicles to destroy.
- Destroying a car with two gangsters ($500 + $500) using a Grenade or Molotov ($1,000) results in a $100 profit.
Restoring Tommy's Health:
- Visit New Ark Hospital, located north of the most northwest T-intersection in New Ark.
- Restoring Tommy's Health to 100 costs $1,000.
Vehicle Repair and Refueling:
- Vehicle repair at Lucas Bertone's auto service shop (south of the east end of Giuliano Bridge) costs $2,000.
- For free repairs, drive Tommy's vehicle between the city and the country.
- A full tank of gas in Freeride costs $500 at any of the three gas stations. Payments can result in negative dollar amounts.
- Damaged engines can cause vehicles to run out of gas quicker.
- To save a damaged vehicle, either drive between city and country for a free repair or pay $2,000 at Lucas Bertone's, then buy $500 worth of gas.
- To preserve a vehicle, save the game ($2,000) when convenient. If the vehicle is later seriously damaged, reload the save.
- Free vehicle repair is available in any Freeride setting except City-Small by driving between the city and country to load the other setting.
Hidden Freeride Cars:
- Hidden cars are indicated by white lines on the radar.
- Silver Fletcher (Pierce Silver Arrow): A fast, four-seater car with good handling and a protective hard roof. Found by the lighthouse in the southeast corner of town at the end of a dirt path. Available in City-Night and City-Daytime. Useful for earning money by exceeding 70 mph. This is the best hidden car to save.
- Bolt-Thrower Red: A late 1950s style car with large fins, red with a white soft top. It handles well but can be dangerous if Tommy rolls over or is shot while driving. To obtain it: face east on the West Marshall Bridge, shoot the west dark window of the octagonal structure until the screen briefly darkens, then go to the alley north of the west end of the East Marshall Bridge. Available in all city modes and missions like "Molotov Party." Can also be obtained from the "Chase the Invisible Man" mission in Freeride Extreme.
- Bolt Truck: A plain truck with "ATLANTIC EXPORT" on the sides. Located by a building on a raised walk southwest of the east corner of the southernmost east-west road in the westernmost block of the Works Quarter. Available in all city modes.
- Bruno Speedster 851 (Auburn Speedster 851/852): A fast, two-seater car with good handling but no roof. Added to the garage after mission 15. Found in the alley between the first "L" and "S" of "CENTRAL ISLAND" on the Map (Tab). Available in City-Night or City-Daytime.
- Lassiter V16 Appolyon: A larger, heavier, fast two-seater with good handling but no roof. Located in the winding north-south alley in the western part of the block north of...
