Navigate the treacherous Shantytown in Left 4 Dead 2. Learn enemy spawns, safe room loot, and the best routes to survive this difficult night-time map.

Alright, so you've made it to The Shantytown. This one's a real toughie, especially at night, and it's rated Hard for a reason. Keep your wits about you, because the zombies here are relentless, and there's a big Crescendo Event called 'Crossing the Plank' waiting for you. No unique Panic Events, but expect plenty of Uncommon Infected to pop out of nowhere.

When you spawn, you'll be in a Safe Room. Take a moment to gear up. You've got an Assault Rifle, Auto Shotgun, Scoped Rifle, four Health Kits, and an Ammo Cache. Grab what you need, but don't linger too long. Your first objective is to flush out the zombies and then start scavenging. Check every single building in this village for supplies. Seriously, don't skip any. The building with the lantern on it, located forward and to your left from the Saferoom, is your exit. Grab whatever's inside and then head out the other side. You'll see some dead cows in a field – just ignore them and keep moving.

The path ahead will be marked by burning barrels and more lanterns, guiding you through the darkness. Again, you need to examine EVERY SINGLE BUILDING in this area. Pay special attention to the house on the right side of the trailer; it's packed with valuable supplies. To save time, stick to the boardwalk instead of trying to cut across the water.

Things get a bit more vertical here. You'll need to go up stairs on the boardwalk to reach some elevated planks. These lead to houses perched precariously on cliff edges. Like the ones before, these houses are hiding supplies, so make sure to check them all. Look for the house with a lit lantern on it – that's your way forward to the next section. This particular house usually has the best loot, potentially including Health Kits, Defibrillators, and even better Weapons.

Once you've cleared out that house and grabbed its goodies, exit through the back and follow the path that isn't choked with trees. Keep heading towards the light; you'll find a Hunting Rifle lying near a dead body. This path will eventually lead you to another village, this one characterized by a series of elevated shacks built over the water.

Now, you'll need to cross the planks leading to these shacks. As you navigate them, you'll come across one that needs to be lowered to create a bridge. Here's the catch: it's old, rusty, and incredibly noisy when you try to move it. You know what that means – it's going to attract a horde. Be ready for a fight as soon as you lower that plank, because the noise is a guaranteed trigger for a swarm of infected.
