Your expert guide to Left 4 Dead 2's The Riverbank campaign. Learn enemy spawns, safe room loot, and how to survive the night.
Alright, so you're tackling The Riverbank in Left 4 Dead 2? This one's a night mission and generally pretty easy, but don't get complacent! You'll start with a safe room that's usually stocked with a couple of melee weapons, a pistol, and four health kits. Plenty to get you going.
The main goal here is to get across the river, but the bridge is out. So, we're going underground, literally. Grab any immediate supplies like a weapon or health kit from the car near the start, then head into the streets behind the bridge. You'll need to duck into a lower concrete area next to the river to get around some vehicles blocking the main path. Once you're past that, hop back onto the street – the rest of it is blocked for good.
Next up are the souvenir shops. Poke around in here for some primary weapons. The washrooms are worth a look too; the men's room often has a First Aid Station, and the women's might hide a Superweapon. Keep an eye out in the offices upstairs for Footlockers. At the end of the hallway, you'll find a small restaurant. Head through it and exit the building – there's a closet to your right just outside.
Once you're out, turn right twice and follow the road. Trust me, the other directions just lead to dead ends. You'll see a ramp leading up to a truck – head up that. Be on the lookout here for Alarm Cars; they're a unique panic event for this map. Worse, a Tank can also spawn in this area, so keep your eyes peeled for any large, angry men. To proceed, you'll need to go into the buildings on the left. Watch out for Smokers and Jockeys trying to drag you back down! Head up the stairs inside. You might find Tier 2 Weapons or other goodies near a hole in one of the rooms, or more supplies in the other room upstairs, possibly on the balcony or in a closet. After looting, head back out and make your way into the park.
In the park, head towards the tree in the far-left corner. There are usually weapons and other supplies stashed there. Looks like this area was set up for a wedding at some point.
Okay, now for a tricky part. Turn right. Uh oh! There's a Witch chilling near the garden house. Startling her will bring the Horde down on you, and even turning on the radio nearby will just make her angry AND attract the Horde. The only way forward is through the house itself. Be super careful here; you don't want to agitate her unnecessarily.
