Pop Star: Whispy Woods

Learn how to beat Whispy Woods in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards! This guide covers Whispy Jr., apple spitting, and root attacks to help you win.

Dear ol' Whispy Woods always picking fights with Kirby. I can't think of any Kirby game where Whispy isn't included. This is probably one of the easiest Whispys ever. I miss Kirby's Dreamland 3 where he goes crazy and runs after you after a while. A big tree! :)

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Whispy Woods Jr. (x3): Takes 2 apples each.
• Whispy Woods: Takes 6 apples total (spit at roots).

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Whispy Woods Jr.
   1. You'll be on a circular path around Whispy Woods. Three small trees, Whispy Woods Jr., will appear.
   2. These Jr. trees will walk and jump around the path. Don't bump into them, as it hurts! They also shoot short-range clouds in front of them, so keep your distance.
   3. Whispy Woods will spit apples at you. You need to avoid these and then inhale them.
   4. Spit the inhaled apples at the Whispy Woods Jr. trees. Each Jr. tree can take two apples.
2. Phase 2: Whispy Woods' Attacks
   1. Once the Jr. trees are dealt with, Whispy Woods gets angry and starts attacking you directly.
   2. Root Attack: He'll shoot four pointy roots up from the ground in front, behind, to his left, and to his right. Make sure you're not standing in any of these directions when he does this.
   3. Apple Attack: After the root attack, he'll shake his head and drop apples from above. Run to either your left or right to find a relatively safe spot where the apples will fall. Watch the sky to avoid getting hit.
   4. Once the apples have fallen, inhale one or two of them.
   5. Wait for Whispy Woods to use his root attack again. When he does, spit your inhaled apple(s) out at the roots.
   6. Whispy Woods will be defeated after taking six apples spit at his roots.

Strategy:

• This is considered one of the easiest bosses in the game. Just focus on dodging and using the apples effectively.
• When Whispy Woods spits apples, it's easy to avoid them and then inhale them.
• For the root attack, pay attention to his positioning and move to the sides.
• When he drops apples, run to the sides to avoid them, then inhale them to use against his roots.
• Don't get hit by the apples he drops or the roots he summons.
