Learn how to beat Paralogue 18 'Nutty Family' in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest! This guide covers Velouria's recruitment, enemy tactics, and Dragon Vein usage.
Hey there! Welcome to Paralogue 18, also known as 'Nutty Family'. This paralogue is where you'll recruit Velouria, who's a pretty cool Wolfskin unit. Don't let the map's appearance fool you; while it looks like a mage-heavy battlefield with those pesky Fire Orbs, there's a clever trick to make it much easier!
Walkthrough
- 1Objective: Your main goal here is to rout the enemy, meaning you need to defeat all of them.
- 2New Ally: Velouria joins automatically when you engage the enemy. She's a Wolfskin, which is a great class.
- 3Map Overview: You'll notice a lot of mages on the enemy side, and those Fire Orbs seem intimidating. However, the real key to this map is the Dragon Veins. Activating them will Silence all enemy mages for a turn, completely neutralizing their threat. You have three Dragon Veins to use, one after another. The strategy is to use these Dragon Veins to blitz the enemy while their mages are useless.
- 4Initial Positioning: Spend the first few turns getting your units into position. Have a strong royalty character near the upper Dragon Vein, Azura positioned between the two upper Dragon Veins, and another noble near the middle Dragon Vein. Mounted units and Mages/Archers are ideal here because they can often attack twice, letting you clear enemies faster.
- 5First Dragon Vein and Blitz: Once your forces are in place, have one of your nobles activate the upper Dragon Vein. Immediately after, blitz the enemy position. Focus on taking out the Faceless units first, as they can attack on the enemy's turn. If you can't get to them, prioritize the mages.
- 6Reinforcements and Second Dragon Vein: After you engage, three Faceless reinforcements will appear from the forts on the right side of the map. Use this turn to activate the second Dragon Vein with your noble and take them down quickly. With the mages silenced again, your middle team should push forward aggressively, dealing with the physical attackers and most of the remaining mages. Azura can help pick off a few enemies too.
- 7Velouria Joins: As you push through the center, Velouria will appear from the upper left and join your party. She's strong enough to take out an archer up there on her own.
- 8Consolidating and Third Dragon Vein: If you're not in immediate danger, save the third Dragon Vein for later. Clear out the remaining enemies in the center and the Faceless on the right. Position a noble near the bottom Dragon Vein for your next push. This is also a good time for your healers to catch up and heal any damaged units while you prepare to push north and south.
- 9Final Push: On the next turn, activate the final Dragon Vein. This will silence the Archers and Dark Knights to the north and south. With their magic-users neutralized, you should have a clear path to victory. The boss, while having defensive support, should be manageable for your strongest mage, even if they can't use magic.
