Here's a quick rundown of some of the early-game baddies:

Don't let their low HP fool you; even these early guys can be tough if you're not prepared. The key is to build up your stats and spells. You can even attack your own party members to train, but be careful – if you get too strong too fast, you might accidentally knock someone out!

Super Important Tip: SAVE YOUR GAME OFTEN! Seriously, don't forget this. Also, be smart about where you explore. Stick close to towns like Altair and Gatrea at first. There are some seriously tough monsters lurking in the far southern corners of the peninsula and to the northwest of Gatrea. Avoid those areas until you're much stronger!

When you're in Altair, make sure to stock up on any spells you think you'll need, as the next town, Gatrea, doesn't have a Spell Shop. It's a straight shot north from Altair, just across the bridge.

In Gatrea, check out the shops. You can grab some decent gear like a Buckler (highly recommended for everyone!), Leather Caps, and Clothes. If you want to beef up your weapon collection, consider a Javelin or a second Broadsword. Grabbing a few Potions or Hi-Potions is also a good idea, as the journey to Fynn can be pretty dangerous.

To get to Fynn, head west from Gatrea, then loop north around the lake. Again, a word of caution: stick close to the lake! Straying too far off the path will lead you into battles with much stronger monsters. You've been warned!
