Dragon Quest VIII: Loot Pereguin Quay

Alright, let's get you sorted out with Pereguin Quay! It's a pretty straightforward place, mostly about grabbing some useful items and getting a couple of photos for Cameron's Codex. Think of it as a quick pit stop to gear up before you head out again.

First things first, let's snag some freebies. Head down the left ramp towards the Armour Shop. You'll see some pots and barrels there – smash 'em up! You can find a Chimaera Wing and a Leather Kilt. After that, mosey on over to the Item Shop just to the right. More pots and barrels await, so break 'em all for a Medicinal Herb and a bit of cash, 8G. Keep heading south to the Weapon Shop; you guessed it, more pots and barrels to break. This time, you'll get an Oaken Club and an Antidotal Herb. Lastly, there's a guy trying to open a locked chest. Don't worry about him for now, just break the pots and barrels near him to grab a Seed of Defence and another Medicinal Herb.

Now, let's get those Codex entries. Head towards the main building, but before you go inside, turn around and face the Market Place. Use your camera to photograph it for 029: Pereguin Quay Market. Once that's done, head inside the main building.

Inside, make your way to the table on the left where a Hooded Man is sitting. Chat with him, and he'll give you an Iron Nail. Next, check the drawer near the beds – you'll find a Seed of Magic. Now, head upstairs. After a few flights, you'll see some boxes. Look on top of a fish box nearby for a Golden Slime. Snap a picture for 092: Pereguin Quay Golden Slime.

Before we leave, let's craft something useful. If you've been following along, you should have a Bronze Knife and an Iron Nail. Toss them into the Alchemy Pot to create a Thief Key. This is super important!

With your new Thief Key, head back out to the Market Place. You'll see those locked chests we spotted earlier. Use the Thief Key to unlock one, and the grateful owner will let you open the others too! Inside these chests, you'll find a Boomerang, 200G, and the very first Mini Medal (#1). Don't forget to check out the shops here too – you can pick up gear like the Cypress Stick, Pot Lid shield, Bandana, and more! The Armour Shop has items like the Scale Armour and Chain Mail, while the Weapon Shop offers the Bronze Knife and Thorn Whip.
