Venture into the expansive world of Dragon Quest X, a vibrant MMORPG where adventure awaits! This section of the guide covers combat mechanics and strategies in Dragon Quest X. After defeating a boss, you can use the evac spell or backtrack to your village. Enemies will have vanished from the area, making the return journey safe. Upon exiting the cave, you'll notice changes in the environment, with monsters gone from the overworld. You can explore freely but will find nothing of interest. A cutscene will play as you travel back to your village.

Upon reaching your village, a dramatic scene will introduce a new character. You will then be taken to a mysterious temple to design your online character, including selecting a race and vocation. After character creation, you will receive an Adventurer's Log and be transported out of the temple. This concludes the tutorial.

You will be prompted to enter online mode. Answering 'yes' will initiate the connection process if your system is set up. Answering 'no' will advance you to the extended offline campaign, which you can also access later. For those proceeding online, this is where the tutorial guide concludes. For offline players, the extended offline campaign begins.

In the extended offline campaign, you play as the sibling of the main character, whose adventures occur after the tutorial's events. You will start in a field outside a new village, encountering slimes and eggplant monsters. You can collect items like Herbs, Antidotal Herbs, and Moonwort Bulbs from sparkling spots on the ground.

Explore Narubia Town, interacting with buildings and people. You can find minor treasures in barrels and shelves. A red treasure chest at the beach (point G-2 on the map) contains iron nails. Another red chest inside a house contains a gold ring.

Item Shop

Hey there! So, you're looking to stock up, huh? The Item Shop in Dragon Quest X is pretty straightforward, but knowing what to grab can make a big difference, especially as you get deeper into the game. Let's break down what you can find and when you might need it.

Here's a quick rundown of some key items you can purchase:

Herb — 8 G
Golden Tangleweb — 50 G
Evac Bell — 120 G
Yggdrasil Leaf — 1000 G

Now, about that Yggdrasil Leaf for 1000 G – it's a bit pricey, but super important! If you've just beaten Balzack, use that reward money to snag one if you don't already have it. Trust me, you'll need it soon.

After you've got your Leaf, make your way to the church. You won't be able to go inside the building itself, but the priest will be out front on the walkway. Chat with him for all your usual church services. Then, talk to the woman standing right outside the church doors. When she asks if you want something, say 'yes'. This is a big one – you'll get the ability to 'Zoom' to this town, which adds it to your items menu, and you'll also receive the final alchemy recipe book. Pretty neat, right?

With that new recipe book in hand, use your Zoom ability to head back to Narubia town. Find the alchemy pot there and get ready to cook up something special. This book unlocks the recipe for a 'Bean', which is the last item on the Inventory Items menu in alchemy. To make it, you'll need a Special Medicine, a Yggdrasil Leaf (see, told you it was important!), and a Lucida Shard. Once you've crafted the Bean, Zoom back to Etene Village.

Find the same woman who gave you the recipe book and bring her the Bean. Say 'yes' when she prompts you, and get ready to watch a pretty cool scene unfold. Congratulations, you've just finished the extended offline campaign! After the scene, you'll see a message asking if you want to save your data. It's a good idea to save, but the choice is yours. Either way, you'll end up back outside the church.

While the main offline story is done, you can still revisit shrines to fight bosses again (they take a little time to respawn, so don't expect them to be there instantly!) and keep using that alchemy pot. You might be wondering about that scythe-wielding guy from the tutorial or what happened after you picked a new race... To find out, you'll need to dive into the online mode. Some say finishing the offline campaign nets you a bonus item online, but I haven't been able to confirm that myself. Still, it's worth a shot!
