Navigate the Inverted Castle in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. This guide details defeating Flying Zombies, Cthulhu, and the boss Akmodan II, plus item locations.
After entering Orlox’s Quarters through the red door, head left. In the next room, you’ll find Ghost Dancers and Malachi. Avoid the Malachi’s green projectile. The room after is a connector. Proceed to the next room where you’ll see a red door on the left and a drop-off. The red door leads to the area’s teleporter.
Drop down and hug the right side. You’ll find pots containing a Shield Potion, Luck Potion, and Manna Prism. At the bottom, you’ll encounter ceiling spikes. You can equip the Spike Breaker armor, use the Mist form, or double jump over them. Be wary of Ghost Dancers placed to disrupt your jumps. In a pot at the end of this spiked room is an Aquamarine. An opening is above where the Aquamarine was.
In the large room, you’ll see several Karasuman, now a normal enemy in the Inverted Castle. Their rare drop is a ring. Explore the door on the top left of this room.
In this new room, you’ll face Flying Zombies, whose separated upper bodies continue to move. A Cthulhu is also present. Further on, you’ll find a Life Max Up. In the next section, more Zombies and Cthulhu appear. Near the third candle on the floor, a breakable section leads to a secret room containing a Heart Refresh. This item replenishes 500 hearts and is best saved until you obtain the Duplicator.
Exit the secret room, head right, and go through the door to connect Orlox’s Quarters with the Royal Chapel. Backtrack to the large room with Karasuman and fly to the top left entryway again. Follow the linear path to the end to find the Alucard Mail. This completes the retrieval of Alucard’s starting equipment.
Fly down from this room and use the save room. After clearing these three areas and obtaining map coverage, head to the boss at the bottom left of the large room.
Before the boss door, a Shuriken is located above you in the hallway. Proceed to face Akmodan II.
Akmodan II
Akmodan II is the final normal boss. Equip the Topaz Circlet to heal from poison damage. When hit, Akmodan II releases a yellow gas cloud; the circlet mitigates this. His primary attack is a slow, stretchy hand extension. He is vulnerable to rapid attacks. Upon defeat, he disintegrates, and you receive the Rib of Vlad, the last relic needed to fight Dracula. In the room where you fought Akmodan II, a door on the right leads to a Heart Max Up.
With all main areas explored, it’s recommended to complete any remaining map coverage, especially in water areas. Afterward, proceed to the Inverted Clock Room.
