Obtaining Infection Resistance

Learn how to obtain the Experimental Inoculation in Atomfall to gain permanent Infection Resistance, unlocking Healing Boost and Radiation Resistance skills.

Infection can become a significant obstacle in Atomfall, especially when exploring the Interchange. While consumable items like Strange Tonics offer temporary relief, obtaining the Experimental Inoculation provides a permanent solution.

The Experimental Inoculation grants the Infection Resistance skill upon use. It also unlocks the Healing Boost and Radiation Resistance skills, making it a highly valuable item.

Experimental Inoculation Location

Acquiring the Experimental Inoculation requires a multi-step process:

1. Access the Interchange Medical Section: Head to the Interchange and unlock the Medical section. This requires two Atomic Batteries. One can be found in the Central Processing Unit early on. The other can be traded for with Trader Molly in Slatten Dale (26.3E, 79.0N), where a higher Charisma skill can be beneficial.
2. Power and Access Medical: With the batteries, return to Data Store Charlie (southwest of the Interchange center). Use a battery to power the area. Proceed to the opposite building, ascend to the top floor, and enter the Medical section.
3. Navigate to the Wards: Inside Medical, take the left path, follow it to the end, and use a crawl space to reach the Wards.
4. Find the Church Cellar Key: At the back of the Wards, you'll find a dead end containing the Church Cellar Key.
5. Locate the Church Cellar: Travel to Wyndham Village and enter the church in the southwest area. Descend the stairs to find the Church Cellar, which requires the key you just acquired.
6. Obtain the Experimental Inoculation: Inside the Church Cellar, you will find Dr. Holder. Agree to assist him (you don't need to complete his quest) to use the Experimental Inoculation located near him. Using it will grant you permanent Infection Resistance.

Infection Effects

Infection is a status effect triggered by contact with Ferals or spore clouds. When the Infection gauge fills:

• You will take constant damage over time.
• Certain Infection plants will explode when approached.
• Your Heart Rate (Stamina) will remain elevated, leading to quicker exhaustion.

Due to its detrimental effects on exploration and combat, it is highly recommended to obtain the Experimental Inoculation as soon as possible.
