Part 8

Learn how to save Dylan, Emma, Ryan, and Nick in Part 8 of The Quarry. Avoid infection and critical deaths with these steps.

Saving Emma:

• To prevent Emma from getting infected in Chapter 6, do not choose 'Interrupt to Run' when encountering hunters Jed & Bobby.
• If Emma gets infected in Chapter 4, a difficult Shootout event in 8-Kaitlyn requires success to save Abi.
• If Emma is infected in Chapter 6, when she turns with Abi in 9-Abi-2, choose the 'Ladder' option over 'Stairs' and succeed any QTEs.
• Emma is most at risk in Chapter 4 during werewolf chases (4-Emma-1 & 4-Emma-2). Succeed all QTEs during these chases to prevent her death.
• Before the chase in Chapter 4, when Emma is searching the cabin, choose 'Bag' instead of 'Open The Spooky Trapdoor And Die A Horrible Painful Death'.
• During the latter part of the Chapter 4 werewolf chase (4-Emma-2), choose 'Reel Slowly' and avoid 'Interrupt to Speed Up' to prevent extra QTEs.
• If Emma is infected in Chapter 4, Kaitlyn must not shoot Werewolf Emma with silver in 8-Kaitlyn. If Kaitlyn fails to choose between regular and silver shells in time, she will use the silver shell and kill Emma.
• Have Jacob acquire the Silver Bracelet in 1-Jacob to prevent a potential late-game death for Emma under specific circumstances.

Saving Dylan:

• The easiest way to save Dylan is to get him infected in Chapter 5 by breaking into the cabin in 1-Abi, and then not amputating his hand when he is bitten in 5-Ryan. If infected this way, he survives the rest of the game.
• If Dylan is not infected, avoid getting Emma infected in Chapter 4, as this endangers Dylan when she turns in Chapter 8. Succeed Emma's QTEs during her werewolf chases in Chapter 4 to prevent her infection.
• During the werewolf battle in the scrapyard in 9-Dylan-2, choose 'Slam Car' instead of 'Horn'.
• If Dylan is still with Kaitlyn in Chapter 10 and not infected, in 10-Kaitlyn-2, do not 'Wait' at the start of the battle; choose 'Run' instead.
• Ideally, choose to 'Investigate Abi/Emma knocking on the office door' rather than running to the 'Kitchen' if the option arises, as the Kitchen presents more possible deaths. Either Kaitlyn or Werewolf Caleb will die if the Kitchen is chosen. To get the office door option, Abi or Emma must have survived to this point, Emma must not be infected, and Emma must have picked up the silver shells in the basement in 9-Abi-2.
• If in the kitchen and Dylan is not infected, Abi must have acquired the rabbit toy in 1-Abi for Dylan to survive. Do not fail any QTEs, choose 'Freezer' instead of 'Run', then lure the werewolf into the freezer by choosing 'Decoy' to use the toy.

Saving Dylan's Hand:

• To save Dylan's hand, refuse to amputate it if the option arises in 5-Ryan. However, refusing will result in Dylan being infected and turning in Chapter 9.
• To save Dylan's hand and prevent him from getting infected: have Abi not break into the cabin in 1-Abi. This alters the events in 5-Ryan, and Dylan will not be attacked.

Saving Ryan:

• Have Ryan accept Laura's bite in 9-Ryan-2.
• In 9-Ryan-3, during the battle with Werewolf Chris, shoot Werewolf Chris during the Shootout event. Ryan starts aiming at Werewolf Chris; Werewolf Laura is to the right. Failing to shoot Chris or shooting Laura instead will kill Ryan. Chris must be killed to save Ryan.
• In 10-Laura-1, if this scene plays, succeed the QTEs during the car attack. Failing certain QTEs will result in Ryan's death.
• In 10-Laura-2, if this scene plays, shoot Silas.
• Ideally, ensure Laura does not shoot Travis at the end of Chapter 7 by succeeding the QTEs during her and Max's escape. If Laura shot Travis, Bobby must die for Ryan to survive. Ryan must stab Bobby in 9-Ryan-2 to achieve this, which eventually results in Bobby's death. To do this, Ryan must keep the knife throughout Chapter 9, meaning not pulling it out and succeeding the final QTE in 9-Ryan-1 where Ryan pushes over a cabinet while being chased by Bobby. Later, in 9-Ryan-3, Ryan must shoot Travis to survive.
• If wanting to save Silas as well as Ryan, and Laura shot Travis at the end of Chapter 7, this prevents 10-Laura-2 from happening while keeping Ryan alive, thus preventing the opportunity to kill Silas. This also prevents Eliza from haunting the player at the end of the game, as Silas's life is never threatened.
• Alternatively, in 3-Ryan, succeed all or most QTEs when Ryan chases Nick. When Ryan reaches Nick and Bobby, shoot and hit Bobby during the Shootout event. This gives Ryan the vial of werewolf blood. Later, in 10-Laura-1, have Ryan take the werewolf blood, then spare Silas in 10-Laura-2.

Saving Nick:

• In 8-Ryan-2, when Ryan and Laura reach the cages, choose the 'Interrupt to Stop Laura' to prevent Laura from shooting Werewolf Nick. This is the only action required in this specific scenario to save Nick.
