Learn essential survival tips for The Last of Us Part II, focusing on early game collectibles like Eugene’s Firefly Pendant and finding the workbench.

When navigating the world of The Last of Us Part II, understanding collectible locations and utilizing workbenches are crucial for survival and progression. Early in the game, specifically after leaving the supermarket and taking shelter in a library, you will encounter several key items that contribute to your collection and character development.

Here are some essential tips and collectible locations from an early section of the game:

  • Artifact: 4/6 - Eugene’s Firefly Pendant

    • Location: Unmissable. After leaving the supermarket and entering the library, Ellie will comment on a pendant. You will automatically pick it up when walking through the door in the back room of the library.
  • Journal Entry: 1/2 - Toy Giraffe

    • Location: After walking through the door into the children’s library room, turn right to find a giraffe toy. Interact with it for a sketch.
  • Trading Card: 2/2 - Laurent Foucault: CEO SPARK

    • Location: From the giraffe toy, turn around. Behind the front desk, in a small storage area, you will find this trading card on the desk.
  • Artifact: 5/6 - Photo of Eugene and Tommy

    • Location: Continue forward in the children’s area. Look for a dartboard and some jackets. The photo is on the table between them.
  • Artifact: 6/6 - Eugene’s Ultimatum

    • Location: Turn around from the desk where you found the photo. You will see a bed. On the left side of the bed, on a bedside table, you will find a note inside.
  • Workbench: 1/1 - Library Back

    • Location: Story related. After turning on the generator, Ellie will notice the workbench directly in front of you. It is very hard to miss and is prompted for use.

Using a workbench to upgrade a piece of gear will unlock the Tinkerer achievement.
