You'll get a checkpoint when the dynamite starts showing up. If you can reach this checkpoint, you can likely finish this section. Pop dynamite from a distance to let it kill the holder and watch out for flying knives. After the wave from above, a wave will come from the south room. If you have a grenade, use it there. Otherwise, do your best to drop these foes and burn them, as they wear metal masks.

Once you're done, save Kidman, get the cell key, and loot the area before dropping down. Continue through the tunnels, killing foes until the Laura cutscene.

Continue until you meet Laura again and burn her to her room. This leads to the Laura fight at the end of the chapter, which is the second 'HARD POINT'.

The Laura Fight:

The Laura fight is brutal and fast. She warps and appears from corpses to get close. If she catches you, it's over. Her enhanced speed and quick reappearance make this tough.

  1. Start by hitting her with a match on her central corpse, then step back and throw a grenade at her as she burns. She doesn't burn long, but you can get at least one grenade in.
  2. Head left and down into the fire trap room. It's wise to place a shock trap here and lead her into it. Once she's shocked, run to the nearby lever and pull it to burn her. Note that running to ladders and using levers won't work here as Laura is too fast.
  3. This still isn't enough to kill her, but she'll be nearly dead. Run around and shoot explosive traps while evading her. 1-2 of these combined with the two torches should do the trick. All in all, it takes around four burnings and 3-4 good explosions to defeat her. Whenever she is burning, unload with shotgun and handgun shells. Be ready to die; this isn't 'Easy Mode'.

After the fight, proceed to the end of the chapter. Get the enemies here to fall down and unplug them. They are fast but it's similar to normal encounters. This ends a very hard chapter.

CHAPTER 6: LOSING GRIP ON OURSELVES (TIPS)

This chapter is significantly harder than the last, especially on Nightmare/Akumu mode. The initial part involves defending your position against waves of enemies.

Initial Assault:

  • Gather the key and any available items. Ensure you have at least one flash bolt and, if possible, upgraded freeze and shock bolts.
  • The first part requires defending the top room, then the bottom room. Dying is easy, and getting grabbed with less than full health is often fatal. Joseph's survival is also critical.
  • A good opening strategy is to shoot the barrel in the left corner as two enemies approach, killing them and allowing you to collect the flash bolt, matches, and ammo.
  • Three more enemies will pour in. Use a shotgun to the face, and utilize the hatchet dropped by a previous enemy.
  • Place traps if possible, but then let 3-5 enemies come in while you use the last barrel to conserve ammo. Enemies can still hurt you while on fire.
  • Near the end of this assault, use a flash bolt for free time, especially if upgraded.

Second Assault (After Dropping Down):

  • Once you pass the first door, heal up if needed. Drop down and quickly collect the gel, freeze bolt, syringe, explosive bolts, and shotgun ammo.
  • There are two more barrels and Joseph in a corner. Place traps to protect him. Focus on taking out foes quickly as they initially drop down in small numbers. Burn them if possible.
  • When enemies start dropping in force, use explosive bolts, the barrels, and flash bolts when overwhelmed. Keep moving and stay alive until Joseph finishes his task, then exit.

The reward for this section is the Sniper Rifle. Don't forget the key. This area also presents challenges, but Joseph can assist significantly. Keep him healed and watch for traps. Be cautious on the bridge area, as Joseph can easily fall. Charge across the bridge to minimize exposure. The room with two treasure chests now contains an enemy.
