Guide your party through the treacherous Treant Forest (3) in Tales of Phantasia. Learn boss strategies, item acquisition, and essential precautions before facing Origin.
Alright, so you're in Treant Forest, and you need to push through to get to the Elven Village and then Treant Forest proper. It's a bit of a maze, but just follow this path: up, up, up, right, right, right, right, up, up, right, right, down, down, then lower right past that big pond, and finally right. You'll find a Memory Circle there to save your progress, which is super important!
Before you go any further, let's get you prepped for the upcoming fight. Make sure Cress has either the Vorpal or Flameberg equipped. Also, you'll want to deactivate a few spells for Mint: Deep Mist, Pow Hammer, Silence, Acid Rain, Dispel, and Delay. Honestly, those won't help you here. For Klaus, just leave Volt active. Chester? Just set him to use all his power.
After a bit of a scene where the party wonders about Origin, Arche will join up with you, though you won't be able to use her in the upcoming battle. Get ready, because it's boss time with that awesome 'Fighting of the Spirit' music!
- 1Target Priority: Focus on taking down the Seraphim first, then deal with Origin.
- 2Positioning Advantage: You can actually corner Origin with Cress. If you manage this, you'll have a much easier time in the fight.
Once you defeat Origin, you'll get the ?BOW. Don't worry if it seems basic; you can turn it into the Soul Steal using a Rune Bottle later. This happens after a cutscene where Origin fuses the Vorpal and Flameberg into the legendary Eternal Sword!
Aftermath:
After the battle, Klaus will make a pact with Origin, and Cress will learn the Teleport Tech. Klaus will then be able to summon Origin himself. In a subsequent cutscene with Runeglom, you'll learn that clues to your next step might be in the town of Eternal Darkness, also known as Ary. It's the only place on the map where darkness supposedly lasts forever, so that's where we're headed next!
