Welcome to The Shifting Sands, a treacherous and dynamic environment within The Nexus Zone. This area is characterized by its constantly moving terrain, hidden traps, and unique enemy types that leverage the environment to their advantage. Mastering navigation and understanding enemy patterns here is crucial for survival and progression.

Environmental Hazards & Navigation

The most prominent feature of The Shifting Sands is the shifting sand itself. Certain areas will periodically rise or fall, creating new pathways or revealing hidden pitfalls. Pay close attention to the ground textures; darker, more agitated sand often indicates an unstable section about to shift. Use your Grapple Hook to quickly traverse larger gaps created by falling sand, or to reach elevated platforms before they sink. Be wary of sand geysers, which erupt without warning, dealing moderate damage and knocking you back. These can be identified by small, bubbling depressions in the sand before they erupt.

Enemy Encounters: Sand Skimmers & Dune Lurkers

• Sand Skimmers: These agile, insect-like enemies move rapidly across the sand, often in small packs. Their primary attack is a quick charge. Use weapons with a high rate of fire, like the Pulse Rifle, to suppress them. A well-placed Shock Grenade can stun multiple Skimmers, allowing for easy elimination.
• Dune Lurkers: Larger and more heavily armored, Dune Lurkers burrow beneath the sand, emerging to unleash a powerful sonic blast. Listen for the distinct rumbling sound before they surface. When a Lurker emerges, target its exposed weak point on its back, preferably with a high-damage weapon like the Railgun or a charged shot from the Plasma Cannon. If you see multiple Lurkers, prioritize taking down one at a time to avoid being overwhelmed by their sonic attacks.

Remember to utilize the shifting terrain to your advantage. Lure enemies onto unstable ground to create environmental kills, or use elevated platforms to gain a tactical advantage against ground-based foes.
