Complete walkthrough for Flesh Made Fear, guiding you through the treacherous sewers and Rotwood Downtown. Discover puzzles, bosses, and key items to progress.
Welcome to our walkthrough of Flesh Made Fear, which is a fairly scary place with so many puzzles and zombies moving around. After finding and putting Cole to rest, you’ll have to go through the trickiest area in the game, Rotwood Downtown. For more information on Flesh Made Fear, check out their official Steam page.
In order to reach Rotwood Downtown, you’ll have to go through the sewers at the end of Rotwood Outskirts. This area is quite long and has a variety of puzzles, as well as unique locations that can only be accessed depending on the character you’re playing as.
- 1Sewers: Enter the sewers from Rotwood Outskirts. Save your game and access storage at a desk. Go up to find two locked doors requiring different medallions. Going down leads to your partner, who you must control to navigate sewer liquid and defeat green zombies (two knife attacks each). Open a gate with a switch, then solve a liquid balancing puzzle to obtain a medallion. A broken lift switch is present. Your partner will hand over the medallion, allowing access to either the Radio Station (Jack) or Barlow’s Meat Shop (Natalie).
- 2WRot Radio Station (Jack): Solve a wave-matching puzzle to unlock a gate. Fight a unique boss to obtain the Radio Station key and unlock the main gate to Rotwood Downtown.
- 3Barlow’s Meat Shop (Natalie): Find a tape detailing a locker code in a room behind the main shop. Save game and access storage. In the main shop, solve an animal skull puzzle by pressing buttons in the order: Cow, Deer, Pig, Goat. This opens the main door. After a safe room, fight a unique boss to get the Barlow’s Meat Shop Key, unlocking the gate to Rotwood Downtown.
- 4Rotwood Downtown: Find three unique canes hidden in the School, Crimson Reels cinema, and Bethany’s Curse and Crafts. Place these canes on three altars in front of a locked door near the intersection to unlock the path to Rotwood Cemetery. Avoid unnecessary fights with roaming enemies; save bullets for bosses.
- 5Bethany’s Curse And Crafts: From the intersection, head past the school gate. Find a hidden garage with resources and storage. Enter Bethany’s Curse and Crafts. Find one moth part near a monument. Go downstairs to find a riddle on the wall. Inside a room, solve a portrait puzzle: rotate the triangle to The Stars for The Lovers, The Sun for the Devil, and The Moon for Death. This unlocks the other moth part. Combine the parts and place them in the monument to get the first cane.
- 6Gunderson’s General Store: After Bethany’s Curse and Crafts, find Gunderson’s General Store. Find a journal tape and a corpse with the gun room key. Upstairs, find the grenade launcher and bullet crafting resources. Return to the room with the corpse and move ahead to find Bill and Zach. Zach gives you a Ritual Medallion. Save your game. Exit and use the sewer opening tool. Navigate sewers with green zombies to reach a ladder.
- 7Vincent Rypard’s House: After resurfacing, enter Vincent Rypard’s house. Defeat two bloated zombies. Save game and access storage. An optional puzzle involves three portraits with buttons. Press Life, then Pain, then Death to reveal a secret pathway to a basement laboratory. Use a control panel to manually activate the sewer lift, saving your partner. Exit the house, find a Ripper’s Tape in a mouth-tree, and use an opened sewer to return to downtown.
- 8The Crimson Reel: Use the Ritual Medallion to open a gate, then fight numerous zombies. Go to Video Outlaw to find the Crimson Reel’s key. Save game and access storage upstairs, taking a hammer. Break planks behind the counter to access the basement. Find a corpse and journal tape; search the corpse for the key. Enter the cinema, defeat two flying zombies, then another in the movie room. Find the Serpent Cane. Return to downtown.
- 9The Rotwood School: Go to the Rotwood School. Rush past small zombies outside and enter. Reach the safe room. Use your shotgun to defeat zombies, as shotgun bullets and crafting materials are abundant. In the deepest room, kill a witch-like zombie with your handgun. Pick up the Skull Cane from the pedestal and return to downtown.
