Navigate the treacherous sewers and downtown areas of Rotwood in Flesh Made Fear. This guide details strategies for sewers, radio station, meat shop, and downtown puzzles.
Welcome to our walkthrough of _Flesh Made Fear_, which is a fairly scary place with so many puzzles and zombies moving around. After finding and putting Cole to rest, you’ll have to go through the trickiest area in the game, Rotwood Downtown. For more information on _Flesh Made Fear_, check out their official Steam page.
In order to reach Rotwood Downtown, you’ll have to go through the sewers at the end of Rotwood Outskirts. This area is quite long and has a variety of puzzles, as well as unique locations that can only be accessed depending on the character you’re playing as.
Walkthrough
- 1Sewers: Enter from Rotwood Outskirts. Find a save/storage desk. Go up to find two medallion-locked doors. Go down to control your partner (Marcus for Jack, Katla for Natalie) through sewer liquid, avoiding green zombies (2 knife attacks each). Open a gate with a switch, leading to a liquid balancing puzzle. Solving it grants a medallion. A broken lift switch is present. Your partner retrieves the medallion and hands it over, allowing access to either the Radio Station (Jack) or Meat Shop (Natalie).
- 2WRot Radio Station: Solve a wave-matching puzzle to unlock a gate. Fight a unique boss to get the Radio Station key, then unlock the main gate to Rotwood Downtown.
- 3Barlow’s Meat Shop: Enter from the sewer. Find a tape detailing a locker code, save/storage access. Solve a skull puzzle in the main shop (Cow, Deer, Pig, Goat order) to open the main door. Proceed through a safe room to fight another unique boss. Defeating it yields the Meat Shop Key to access Rotwood Downtown.
- 4Rotwood Downtown: Find three altars near a locked door leading to Rotwood Cemetery. Three unique canes are needed: one from the Rotwood School, one from The Crimson Reel, and one from Bethany’s Curse and Crafts. Enemies are plentiful; conserve bullets and run past roaming zombies when possible.
- 5Bethany’s Curse and Crafts: From the intersection, head past the school direction. Find a hidden garage with resources and storage. In the store, find a moth monument. Locate one moth part in the store and another downstairs. Solve a riddle on the wall outside a room. Inside, rotate a triangle puzzle to match portraits: The Stars for The Lovers, The Sun for The Devil, and The Moon for Death. This unlocks the other moth part. Combine moth parts and place them in the monument to get the first cane.
- 6Gunderson’s General Store: Proceed from Bethany’s. Find a journal tape and a corpse with the gun room key. Obtain the grenade launcher and crafting resources upstairs. Return to the room with the corpse and move ahead to find Bill and Zach. Zach gives you a Ritual Medallion. Save the game. Exit and use the sewer opening tool. Navigate sewers with green zombies to reach an exit ladder.
- 7Vincent Rypard’s House: After resurfacing, enter the house, defeating two bloated zombies. Save/storage access is available. A puzzle involving three portraits (Life, Pain, Death buttons) and a riddle on the wall is optional but saves your partner. Press buttons in the correct order to reveal a secret pathway to a basement laboratory. Use a control panel to activate the sewer lift, saving your partner. Exit the house, find a Ripper’s Tape in a mouth-tree, and use an opened sewer to teleport to another area, allowing return to downtown.
- 8The Crimson Reel: Use the Ritual Medallion to open a gate, then fight numerous zombies. The cinema is locked; find the key at Video Outlaw. In Video Outlaw, save/storage access upstairs, and obtain a hammer. Break planks on a downstairs door with the hammer to access the basement. Find a corpse and journal tape, and search the corpse for the Crimson Reel key. Enter the cinema, defeat two flying zombies, then another in the movie room. Obtain the Serpent Cane. Return to downtown.
- 9The Rotwood School: Go to the school for the third cane. Enter and proceed to the safe room. Use a shotgun for the numerous zombies, as shotgun bullets and crafting materials are abundant. In the deepest room, defeat a witch-like zombie. Pick up the Skull Cane from the pedestal and return to downtown.
