Combat

Lara's standard melee weapon is the Pickaxe, which can be upgraded for increased damage and armor destruction.

The Bow is Lara's first and most useful weapon, offering silent attacks and the ability to recover arrows. It can be upgraded with Poison Arrows (area-of-effect gas), Fire Arrows (damage over time, destroys barricades and challenge objects), and Grenade Arrows (splash damage, destroys larger barricades).

Lara's starting firearm is the Pistol, effective at short range with headshots. Pistols can destroy wooden barricades. Upgrades include Pistol Sights (from 'Dangerous Territory' mission) and a Silencer (purchased for 25 Byzantine Coins at the Supply Shack in Soviet Installation).

Rifles offer good medium to long-range damage with a fast rate of fire. They can destroy wooden barricades. Upgrades include a Suppressor (from 'Gulag Recon' mission), a Laser Sight (purchased for 25 Byzantine Coins at the Supply Shack in Soviet Installation), and a Grenade Launcher (purchased for 120 Byzantine Coins at the Supply Shack in Soviet Installation).

Shotguns are acquired mid-game and are best for close-range combat due to their wide spread, capable of damaging multiple enemies. They can destroy wooden barricades. The Spreader Choke upgrade is obtained from the 'Misguided Intelligence' optional side-mission.

Grenades can be crafted from environmental cans and reagents, causing damage or stunning enemies.

Molotov Cocktails are found ¼ of the way through the game, crafted from environmental bottles and reagents, and cause enemies to catch fire, potentially spreading to others.

Smoke Bombs can be crafted from environmental stone/pewter jars and reagents, creating a distraction or confusion cloud for stealth or evasion.
