Defeating the Witch

Learn how to defeat the Witch in Rise of the Tomb Raider's Baba Yaga DLC. This guide covers the gondola ride, finding hidden collectibles, and progressing through the Temple of the Witch.

Alright, so you've just finished that cut-scene and it's time to get moving. You'll want to hop aboard that gondola right away. Your first task is to shoot that lever again to get the gondola rolling back the way you came.

As the gondola starts its journey, make your way to the front. Keep an eye out for these Hanging Lanterns – shooting them helps with the ‘Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ area challenge. You can find them scattered along the route:

• Right after you pass the first wall, look for a second stone archway ahead. The Hanging Lantern [Over the Cuckoo’s Nest 04/10] is hanging below it.
• You'll spot another Hanging Lantern [Over the Cuckoo’s Nest 05/10] on the wall, just above and a bit to the right of that same stone archway.
• Look for the next Hanging Lantern [Over the Cuckoo’s Nest 06/10] in a small wooden cradle near the waterwheel you'll see coming up.
• Around the halfway point, keep an eye out for large stone archways on either side of your path – there are two Hanging Lanterns [Over the Cuckoo’s Nest 07/10 and 08/10] tucked away beneath them, one on the left and one on the right.
• The ninth Hanging Lantern [Over the Cuckoo’s Nest 09/10] is waiting just below the platform where the gondola eventually docks.
• For the last one, the tenth Hanging Lantern [Over the Cuckoo’s Nest 10/10], you'll actually need to look back towards where you started once the gondola has parked. Find the water wheel in the distance, and you should see the lantern hanging from the scaffolding just to its left.

Once you've arrived on the other side of the valley, don't jump off the gondola just yet! Instead, look over towards the nearby waterfall. You should be able to see some torches hidden behind the water. Ride through it to find a small, secret room where you can grab a Document [13/21 - Greek]. After that, you can hop off the gondola. Climb the wooden ramp to your right, and at the top, check the area overlooking the gondola for a Survival Cache [03/06].
