    From the roof, shoot the post with the shotgun to climb up and grab the holy relic.

    Look down to the lamppost; a small enclosed area is visible but unreachable yet.

    [CHECKPOINT 2] Through the gates, use them as cover against zombie warriors, collecting souls and ammo.

    Destroy coffins for gold and check the church's back for more coffins and a health pickup.

    [CHECKPOINT 3] In a small area, push a barrel out from under a tomb before the roof collapses.

    [CHECKPOINT 4] Shove the barrel into the neighboring enclosure. Send the banshee into the wall with the shotgun.

    Touch the walls that closed behind you to reveal zombie warlords.

    [SECRET 2] Push the barrel to the back of the stone structure, against the wall with the damaged partition. Shoot the barrel to explode it, revealing a secret area with a super-health pickup and gold from urns.

    [CHECKPOINT 5] Keep moving to avoid enemies. Collect souls for Demon Morph.

    Take out zombie warlords, warriors, and five or six banshees coming from the left.

    Enter the small building to defeat a banshee, opening walls. Grab the mega ammo pack.

    [SECRET 3] In the back corner of the small area, push a barrel to the diagonally opposite corner with shotgun ammo.

    Position the barrel against the side wall in front of the lit lamppost and shoot it to open another secret area with three mega ammo packs.

    [CHECKPOINT 6] Defeat warriors and warlords, grab souls and a mega ammo pack from the larger building.

    [SECRET 4] Enter the smaller building in the corner for medium armor; this room opens after clearing enemies and counts as a secret.

    [CHECKPOINT 7] This is the hardest part. Face warlords and warriors coming from all directions. Avoid two flaming barrels thrown from the church roof.

    Use the Painkiller's killer half for its range, drawing lines against a far wall to hit approaching monsters.

    Collect souls for another Demon Morph.

    Grab the health pickup behind the church if missed earlier.

    [CHECKPOINT 8] Inside the church, face warlords, banshees, and the first miniboss (a giant, fat zombie).

    The miniboss attacks with fists at close range or a flamethrower from a distance.

    Keep running, jumping, and shotgunning. If you have enough souls for Demon Morph, the miniboss falls quickly. Otherwise, avoid minions and use shotgun blasts. Banshees are dangerous due to their slow attack.

    Alternatively, charge the miniboss with the Painkiller's blades for a quick kill.

    The miniboss's red soul grants six health points.

    Once all enemies are down, the level exit appears and doors open. Tie up any missed secret areas and exit.

This level, the first in the Atrium Complex, is fun and reminiscent of Smash TV. You can find the stakegun and encounter more interesting enemies than in the Cemetery.
