How To Defeat The Arbiter of Descent

Stats / Weaknesses:

• The Arbiter of Descent has mechanics that can one-shot the party if unprepared.
• Umbral Clones have a large amount of health and must be focused down.
• Shadow versions of the boss cannot be damaged or slowed.
• Hives summoned by Umbral Clones shoot shockwaves and must be destroyed quickly.

Phases:

1. Early Battle: The Arbiter of Descent uses a leaping axe swing that can be avoided by maintaining distance. It can also pull players in for an unavoidable axe hit, requiring quick recovery. Shadow versions of the boss spawn and swing axes, leaving damaging and slowing dark circles on the floor.
2. Mid-Battle (Anomaly Drain): The boss summons Umbral Clones that head towards pillars to summon Hives. Focus fire on the Umbral Clone. If a Hive is summoned, destroy it quickly to avoid shockwaves. As the fight progresses, more clones are summoned, requiring coordinated focus fire on clones and then splitting to destroy Hives.
3. Late Battle (Dark Armaments & Anomaly Drain): The Arbiter of Descent combines Dark Armaments (AoEs) with Anomaly Drain. Prioritize dodging the AoEs first, then focus on taking down any summoned Hives.

Strategy:

• Maintain a large gap from the Arbiter of Descent during its initial axe swings.
• Dodge away from the boss when it pulls you in for an axe hit and immediately try to recover health.
• Keep your distance from the shadow versions of the boss and avoid the dark circles they leave on the floor, as they slow you down and drain health.
• In groups, focus fire on Umbral Clones immediately upon their appearance.
• Destroy summoned Hives as quickly as possible to prevent constant shockwaves.
• If multiple Hives are active, coordinate to destroy them efficiently to avoid overwhelming damage.
• During the Dark Armaments attack, focus solely on dodging the AoEs by running in one direction until they dissipate.
• When Dark Armaments and Anomaly Drain occur simultaneously, prioritize dodging AoEs before engaging Hives.

Defeating the Arbiter of Descent allows players to choose one Legendary Apocalypse Gear for their class: Explosive Temper Helm, Footwear of Terminal Velocity Shoes, or The Messenger Assault Rifle. Any unwanted gear can be dismantled for mods. The boss also drops additional loot.
