Explore Metroid Prime's Arm Cannon upgrades like the Power, Wave, Ice, and Plasma Beams, plus Morph Ball abilities.
Arm Cannon
Samus' arm cannon can utilize four primary beams, plus a limited-use fifth beam.
- Power Beam: Samus' default weapon, firing a rapid stream of energy shots with high rate of fire but lower stopping power. Its power increases with Charge Beam usage.
- Wave Beam: Found in the Chapel of the Elders in Phendrana Drifts after defeating the first large Sheegoth. Fires three wave-form electrical shots in a triangle. Effective against electrically powered and energy-related enemies, some of which can only be destroyed by this beam. It has a limited homing capacity with Lock-On and can open purple doors. When charged, it becomes a single electrical shot that can stun enemies.
- Ice Beam: Found in the Antechamber of the Chozo Ruins after acquiring the Spider Ball. Fires a single ice energy shot, particularly effective against fire-based enemies. It has the slowest shot travel and lowest rate of fire among the four main beams, but can slow or freeze enemies. It can open white doors. When charged, it deals more damage and has a greater chance of freezing enemies. Frozen enemies can be shattered by a Missile.
- Plasma Beam: Found in Plasma Processing in Magmoor Caverns, near the Geothermal Core, requiring the Grapple Beam to access. Fires a fast, short-range stream of heat, effective against ice-based enemies and ice buildup. It has the second fastest firing rate and fastest projectile speed. Some enemies are set on fire for continuous damage. It can open red doors. When charged, it deals more damage, increases the chance of igniting enemies, and extends the stream's range. It is suggested as a main weapon for the late game.
- Phazon Beam: Earned with the Phazon Suit after defeating the Omega Pirate. This beam is not selectable and is only used in a specific boss fight. When Samus stands in a Phazon pool,
