Master Metroid Prime's major battles. Learn strategies for Parasite Queen, Flaahgra, Thardus, and more, including essential enemy scans.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Parasite Queen (Frigate Orpheon): This boss is protected by a partial force field and attacks with energy shots. Use dodging (Jump while locked-on) to evade. Scan the Queen to target its mouth for increased damage. Shoot between the force field panels when they are stable; cease firing when they become unstable. This fight teaches the Lock-On function.
  2. 2
Hive Mecha and Ram Wasps (Chozo Ruins): You are trapped on a pedestal. First, scan and blast the Ram Wasps that emerge. Wait for them to stop circling before targeting. Once clear, scan the glowing Hive Mecha. Target the area below the visual target to damage it. This pattern of fighting wasps and damaging the Mecha repeats until three red lights on the Mecha are destroyed.
  3. 3
Incinerator Drone and Barbed War Wasps (Chozo Ruins): Scan the Drone to reveal its weak point: a red eye on top. Avoid its rotating flame jets by staying between them. Wait for the eye to appear, then hit it with a Missile to stun the Drone. It will then burn a hive on the ceiling, releasing Barbed War Wasps. Scan the wasps immediately. Continue fending off wasps while targeting the Drone's eye.
  4. 4
Flaahgra (Chozo Ruins): This giant poisonous plant is in the water source. Scan Flaahgra and its Tentacles. Shooting Flaahgra directly will daze it, but not harm it significantly. It attacks by spitting green shots. Flaahgra gains energy from sun panels; flip the active panel away from it by shooting its underside (marked with a red dot) when it is dazed. This causes Flaahgra to collapse, retracting its roots. Roll into a canal near its bottom, attach to the socket, and set a Bomb to deal damage. Subsequent rounds require flipping two, then three, then four sun panels, while keeping Flaahgra dazed by firing at it. Flaahgra may also use a lunging attack that leaves temporary toxic plants.
  5. 5
Sheegoth (Phendrana Drifts): This is a larger version of baby Sheegoths. Get close and circle around it to avoid its charge. Wait for it to attempt an ice breath attack (only when you are close), then hit it with Missiles while it is recovering. This process, around 25 Missiles, repeats. Bombs are also suggested as an alternative attack.
  6. 6
Thardus (Phendrana Drifts): This rock monster rolls into a ball to charge, throws rocks (which can be shot for supplies), and uses an ice beam that can freeze you. Activate the Thermal Visor to see a bright weak spot. Shoot this spot, preferably with a Super Missile. After taking damage, Thardus will overload your visor. Switch to the Combat Visor; the weak spot will turn bright blue and be targetable. Destroy all seven weak spots to defeat Thardus. A snowstorm may reduce visibility during the fight.
  7. 7
Shadow Drone (Phazon Mines): This drone is mostly invisible but its shots reveal its position. It cannot be scanned. Charge a beam and hit it with a Super Missile when it prepares to fire. The Wavebuster is also an alternative if available.
Tips
  • Scanning bosses and their parts immediately is crucial for completing the Log Book, as you won't get another opportunity.
  • The Lock-On function is essential for targeting weak points on many bosses.
  • Utilize the different Visors (Thermal, Combat) to identify and target weak spots effectively.
  • Missiles and Bombs are key offensive tools against many bosses, with Super Missiles being particularly effective.
  • Pay attention to environmental cues and boss attack tells to dodge effectively and create openings for attack.
