Defeat Bhunivelze in lightning returns final fantasy xiii. Learn Schemata setups and strategies for all four forms, including how to get the Double Deity weapon.
Schemata Setup:
Splendid Admiral (default)
- Weapon: Chaos’s Revenge
- Shield: Ultima Shield
- Accessories: Silk Scarf or Falcon Charm, Dawn Gauntlets
- Abilities: Imperil, Guard, Deprotect, Aerora
The Ultima Shield significantly boosts your stats and blocking ability, making ATB speed a priority. EP conservation is useful for Overclocking. Other abilities are standard.
Soldier of Peace
- Weapon: Morgenstern
- Shield: Noblesse Veronique
- Accessories: Warrior Hunter’s Mask, Beggar’s Beads/Enlister’s Gloves
- Abilities: Heavy Slash, Heavy Guard, Shadowbind (locked), Fire
This is your second damage dealer. A good weapon speeds up the fight. Beggar’s Beads improve the chance of getting the Double Deity weapon, though its item drop rate is very low and may require multiple replays. Two powerful physical Schemata reduce fight time and help achieve a 5* rating.
Equilibrium+
- Weapon: Ultima Weapon
- Shield: Noblesse Veronique
- Accessories: Fighter’s Emblem, Wolf’s Emblem or Warrior Hunter’s Mask, Firewyrm, Watergod, Thunderbird or Windwalker Bracelet
- Abilities: Heavy Slash, Guard, Attack (locked), Thunder
This is one of your damage dealers, with the Ultima Weapon dealing immense damage. Thunder can build the Wave, and Guard is useful during Bhunivelze’s quick attack phases.
Strategy:
Bhunivelze is a challenging final boss in lightning returns final fantasy xiii with four forms and complex attack patterns. It may take several attempts to learn his moves. You will face him with no break between phases, so your Schemata must be prepared for all of them. The primary goal is to inflict Stagger as quickly as possible to mitigate his most powerful attacks and prevent instant death. To acquire the Double Deity weapon, a 5* ranking is required, but its drop rate remains very low. If pursuing this weapon, replace Dawn Gauntlets with Beggar’s Beads to slightly improve your chances.
Maximize your EP by farming Set enemies in Altar areas. Having Ethers or Turbo Ethers will greatly assist in achieving a 5* rating and a fast completion time. Warrior’s Potions, Nektar of the Gods, and other buffing potions, along with Hi-Potions, are also beneficial.
1st Form
Bhunivelze immediately casts Doom, imposing a time limit on this phase. He uses non-elemental attacks and inflicts status ailments regularly. Ignore less damaging ailments and focus on Staggering him quickly with elemental spells. He can be debuffed with Deprotect, Deshell, and Imperil. Trigger Transform Bravery to power up your attacks and end the phase swiftly. Guard against Almagest, which deals considerable damage, and his disruptive dual-sword swipes.
2nd Form
Bhunivelze uses Monad Beget at the start, deploying roaming mines that inflict damage. Ignore them and focus on attacking him. Refresh any debuffs and return to standard staggering. Activate Transform Bravery when he is staggered and use Artemis’s Arrows. Even with the Unshelled effect after Stagger, Overclocking and using Artemis’s Arrows can help avoid the Genethliac Hymn phase and the subsequent Dancing Mad. Be prepared for Wings of Destruction, a nasty attack; switch to Splendid Admiral and block as much as possible. Heal if necessary and continue.
2nd Form (Genethliac Hymn)
Bhunivelze begins charging this attack around the halfway point of the second phase. If you cannot defeat him before this, concentrate all efforts on Staggering him. Lightning will leap into the air, making Jump useless and Beat Down less efficient. Focus on damaging him with spells and remaining airborne. Overclock if struggling to Stagger. Staggering him results in Falling Star, a strong magic attack, but less potent than the non-staggered Dancing Mad. High stats may allow you to bypass this phase entirely. This is your cue to push for the Stagger.
3rd Form
This phase features strong physical attacks from Bhunivelze. Your G
