Clear radiation and defeat enemies in Homeworld 2 Mission 07 by strategically using movers to destroy derelicts and defend your fleet.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Begin by collecting resources behind and to the left of your Mothership (MS). Position your fighters and gunships in front and to the left of the MS, with bombers behind them. Retire many of your missiles for flak cannons, as you will face numerous enemy fighters and gunships. Consider sending a scout ahead of your fighters for its superior sensors. Begin constructing destroyers, as this technology is now available.
  2. 2
As instructed upon entering the mission, build a probe and send it to the hulks to receive a new ship and a warning about radiation. Once the mover facility is built, construct the maximum of 10 movers. Destroy an incoming enemy probe from the top right to potentially gain more time. To aid defense, deploy four minelayers to build individual minefields in the area to the top left of your fleet.
  3. 3
Prepare for an attack from the top left, which will include frigates and fighters, followed by a carrier hyperspace jump. Use your own movers to destroy the enemy movers amidst the debris while preparing your fleet. Approximately ten movers should suffice to eliminate the enemy movers, though some losses are expected.
  4. 4
The first attack wave typically comes from the top left. Allocate fighters to engage enemy fighters and gunships, and bombers to target frigates. Your minefields should intercept any frigates that approach too closely. Avoid engaging with your heavier ships initially, as the Heavy Missile Frigates (HMF) will prioritize them. To capture enemy frigates, use scout squadrons and their EMP Blast ability to temporarily disable them. Continue defending against attacks from this direction until the carrier in the same area is destroyed.
  5. 5
After defeating the first wave, expect a significant assault from the right and top right. A Shipyard (SY) will be located directly to your right, with one or two carriers to your top right. Move all fighters to the direct right of your MS to intercept incoming fighters. Establish 3-4 minefields near the edge of the radiation field, but not so close as to attract immediate attention. A fleet of at least 12 frigates and 2 destroyers will appear on the right; use your destroyers and bombers to eliminate them. A fleet consisting of 3-4 destroyers, maximumed bombers and movers, maxed flaks, and a well-placed minefield should be effective.
  6. 6
The next challenge involves simultaneous attacks from two fronts. Prioritize using movers to destroy debris on the immediate right and the SY located there, as it can rapidly produce frigates. Replenish movers if significant losses occur. Destroy all debris within the SY's range, and if possible, have bombers assist movers in destroying the SY, as it is a heavily armored target. The movers should be safe from radiation once the surrounding debris is cleared. The radiation line can be identified on the sensors manager as an orange cloud on the left and right of the map; clearing debris eliminates this radiation. Be aware that the largest piece of debris on the left is indestructible and must be avoided.
  7. 7
Once the SY on the immediate right is destroyed, move your movers along the left and right sides of the map, clearing debris as you proceed. Engage enemies only after clearing the surrounding debris, as movers are slow and vulnerable if trapped.
  8. 8
The key to success in this mission lies in managing the debris. Sending any craft into irradiated areas without clearing the debris first will result in their destruction by radiation. Clearing debris allows your normal and heavier ships to operate safely.
  9. 9
After destroying the last carrier on the top right, focus on the remaining objectives. Use movers to clear debris on the top right until you reach a shipyard. Destroy this shipyard as quickly as possible to prevent further enemy construction. It should be relatively undefended. You can then choose to clear any remaining debris or focus on salvaging wreckage and resources first, depending on your research progress and fleet status.
Tips
  • A scout positioned further out than your fighters can provide early warnings due to its superior sensors.
  • Consider building a few squadrons of scouts with EMP Blast to capture enemy frigates.
  • Minefields are effective against frigates and can help defend your fleet.
  • Use the sensors manager to identify the radiation line (orange cloud) and the debris causing it.
  • Clearing debris is crucial for eliminating radiation and allowing your fleet to move freely.
  • The largest debris field on the left is indestructible and must be avoided.
