Walkthrough for Veithurgard Pass in god of war 2018, including how to destroy the statue of Thor and free the dragon.
Walkthrough
- 1Sail down the river accessed through the doors at Stone Falls until you reach a beach. Dock the boat.
- 2To your right, find a Lore Marker, and to your left, Brok’s Shop. Speak to Brok for information and use his shop if needed.
- 3You should have around 4500+ XP. Consider learning the Countering Blast skill (Shield Combat tree) to parry and return projectiles. Save remaining XP for future upgrades.
- 4Continue forward and squeeze through a gap to face Draugr. Atreus will now participate in melee combat to help stun enemies.
- 5Defeat the Draugr and wolves.
- 6Locate the spiked door ahead. Turn left, break a barricade, and open the coffin behind it.
- 7Use your axe to push the spiked door back, revealing another coffin.
- 8Crawl through the tunnel to the right of the door.
- 9Read the lore before proceeding.
- 10Exit the tunnel to face three Rabid Wolves. Defeat them with Runic Attacks.
- 11Read the Lore Marker nearby, then look right to find another Lore Marker on a pillar.
- 12Lift the rock to the south and head towards the beach.
- 13Release the boat to your right by hitting the runic disc holding it.
- 14Board the boat and pass through the large statues ahead to enter Veithurgard.
- 15You have two destinations: mainland Veithurgard (south) or a small island with a statue of Thor (north). Head to the statue of Thor first, as per a spirit's request from Stone Falls.
- 16Dock at the island's beach and head towards the cave. Be prepared for a Level 5 dual wielding Draugr inside.
- 17Warning: This is a difficult battle. Keep your shield up, maintain distance, and use Runic Attacks, Atreus’ arrows, and axe throws.
- 18After defeating the dual wielding Draugr, a Heavy Draugr will attack from behind. Use Spartan Rage if available to create openings.
- 19Once both Draugr are dead, explore the island. Open the Hacksilver chest in the cave.
- 20Exit the cave and climb the ledge to the east.
- 21Look up to see the next Raven circling the statue. Shoot it down.
- 22Go around to the back of the island and find three graves. Search the ground in front of the middle grave to find a Grip of Tanngiost. (Note: The fully upgraded Versatile Warrior’s Handle is more useful for now).
- 23Look up at the statue from this location and notice runic markings indicating weak spots.
- 24Throw your axe at all marked locations to destroy the statue. You can hit three from your current position.
- 25To hit the last two spots, return to where you climbed the ledge. Hit the back of the statue’s leg and the back itself.
- 26Once all parts are destroyed, the statue will crumble.
- 27Resist the urge to return for your reward yet. Board the boat and sail south to the beach on the main island.
- 28Upon departing the boat on the mainland, you’ll see a Mystic Gateway to your left, followed by several Draugr. Clear this area first.
- 29Toss your axe at the Draugr patrolling the dock. Two throws and an arrow will defeat him and draw the rest of the pack.
- 30Face two Speed Draugr and two Heavy Draugr. Wait for them to group up and use Runic attacks, then finish them off. Keep moving and avoid facing both Heavies simultaneously.
- 31With the initial area clear, go to the dock where the first Draugr was. Take out the Projectile Draugr across the gap.
- 32At the end of this dock, you’ll find the first Artefact for the Horns of Veithurgard quest.
- 33Return across the gap. The left path on this dock is a dead end for now.
- 34Look at the remains of a house and knock a container to the ground.
- 35As you approach the coffin, a Tatzelwurm will attack. Defeat it and open the coffin.
- 36Before proceeding towards the large dragon, cross to the west side and find a Lore Marker.
