Alright, so you're diving into God of War (2018) and you'll be using the Journal screen a TON. Think of it as your all-in-one hub for everything happening in Midgard. You bring it up by hitting the [Touchpad] button. Atreus keeps it all organized, chronicling your journey, so let's break down what's inside:

• WEAPONS and ARMOR: This is where you'll check out and swap out Kratos's gear. On the right side, you'll see his current stats. If you press [L3], you'll get a breakdown of what each stat actually means. Don't worry too much about this right now; we'll get into it more later.
• SKILLS: All of Kratos's abilities are listed here. You can see a little preview of each skill and how much XP you need to unlock it.
• MAP: This gives you a bird's-eye view of Midgard and shows exactly where you are. It's super handy for tracking your progress in each region and for the whole world.
• GOALS: This is your quest log, plain and simple. It's broken down into a few types of tasks:
  • Journey: All the main story missions are here.
  • Favors: These are your side quests, given to you by folks you meet in Midgard.
  • Labors: Think of these like achievements – things like getting a certain number of kills or using a specific skill. They get added as you do them.
  • Treasure Maps: These are little puzzles where you decipher a map image to find hidden treasure.
  • Artefacts: These are your collectibles. Each region has its own set, and finding them all gives you XP. Plus, you can sell duplicates to merchants for some extra coin.
• CODEX: This tab has two parts:
  • Lore: All the background story and world-building details about Midgard.
  • Bestiary: Information on all the enemies you encounter. As you defeat more of them, this section will update with tips on how to take them down more effectively.
• RESOURCES: This is where you'll see any special items you've picked up and the crafting materials you've gathered.

So yeah, get comfortable with the Journal – it's your best friend for keeping track of everything in God of War!
