Dungeon Keeper 2 creature list including Imps, Fireflies, Goblins, Warlocks, Trolls, and Salamanders. Learn their jobs, likes, and dislikes.

Imps

Imps are essential for dungeon operations, requiring only mana to exist. They level up through work, not combat. Level 8+ Imps can cast Haste on themselves and teleport for quick job completion. Protect them from enemy attacks as they are fragile. You can increase their work speed by slapping them and direct them to claim territory or collect bodies. They do not suffer from drop stun and move quickly, making them hard for enemies to hit during battles. Create more Imps using the Create Imp spell; its upgraded version produces a faster, level 4 Imp. For a medium dungeon, ten Imps are recommended; for a sprawling one, fifteen to twenty are needed if mana allows. In My Pet Dungeon Mode, you can have over twenty-five Imps. Returning an Imp to the Dungeon Heart downsizes your workforce and provides a mana boost.

Firefly

Attracted by: Lair. Job Class: Scout. Combat Style: Flanker. Likes: Scouting through the Fog of war (the unrevealed map). Dislikes: Combat. Hates: Nothing. Fireflies are useful in certain dungeons, appearing one at a time to explore. They can draw unwanted attention or quickly uncover territory depending on the location. They are not strong in battle but can be trained to survive enemy traps. Their ability to traverse lava and water makes them excellent scouts for difficult terrain. They are generally content and can be housed anywhere.

Goblin

Attracted by: Lair (minimum 5 tiles). Job Class: Fighter. Combat Style: Flanker. Likes: Training and Gambling. Dislikes: Research and Manufacturing. Hates: Nothing. Goblins are useful early fighters, though less powerful than Salamanders or Trolls later on. While cowardly alone, they can overwhelm enemies in groups due to their speed and ferocity. They are easy to keep happy with nearby food and sleep. They train readily and enjoy spending time in the Casino.

Warlock

Attracted by: Library. Job Class: Thinker. Combat Style: Support. Spells: Fireball, Firebomb, Heal Creature. Likes: Research. Dislikes: Manufacturing. Hates: Converted Wizards. Warlocks are valuable early game assets, researching spells once the Library is available. They are physically weak and will flee if outnumbered, best used in the back lines with ranged fire spells and healing support. Train them after research is complete. Their healing ability is very useful. They become unhappy without work or a Casino. Dropping gold pieces can appease them, but ensure they are paid on payday to prevent mutiny.

Troll

Attracted by: Workshop. Job Class: Worker. Combat Style: Blocker. Special Skill: Spot and Disarm Trap. Likes: Manufacturing. Dislikes: Research. Hates: Converted Giants. Trolls arrive once the workshop is available. Attract at least three for a large workshop to speed up trap and door production. They are easygoing if they have work and are close to food and sleep. In battle, they are slow but hit hard with their hammer, useful for creating a defensive wall with Bile Demons.

Salamander

Attracted by: Training Room. Job Class: Fighter. Combat Style: Flanker. Spells: Fireball. Immunity: Lava. Likes: Training and Gambling, Lairs near to Lava. Dislikes: Research and Manufacturing. Hates: Nothing. Salamanders are useful throughout the game, tougher than goblins, with a ranged attack and lava immunity. Build a training room near lava and scatter lairs to attract them. They train to level 4 without prompting and may then perform guard duties or assist Imps with mining. They gravitate towards Casinos. They become unhappy if not paid on time. In battle, a group of them is formidable due to their good speed.
