Complete walkthrough for Dragon Quest VII's Buccanham Scenario, including the Den of the Dwarves and the Mossferatu boss fight. Find items like Mini Medal #83 and Glowmoss.
Walkthrough
- 1Enter the Den of the Dwarves. Follow the path north and then up the ladder to the second floor.
- 2Go east at the first split to find a chest containing Mini Medal (#83).
- 3Continue on the other path to another ladder. Take it up and proceed to the first set of stairs.
- 4In the room at the top of the stairs, break pots for a Yggdrasil Dew. Open the two chests (requires Magic Key) for an Enclosure Plan and Pillager’s Helmet.
- 5Return to the previous floor and head southwest to find another set of stairs leading to Dinky Dell.
- 6Speak to the dwarf to be let past the Foreman.
- 7Exit the room and speak to the dwarf blocking the passage in the northeast. Use the ladder to go down a floor.
- 8In the northwest corner, find a chest with a Seed of Strength. The ladder to the next area is in the southwest corner.
- 9Proceed to the south end of this floor for the boss battle.
- 10BOSS - Mossferatu: Defeat Mossferatu and its allies, Quayhorse and Wharfhorse.
- 11After the battle, collect Glowmoss from the wall.
- 12Return to Buccanham in the past and head into the town for a scene.
- 13Rest at the castle. Upon waking, the king will discuss the black flame atop The Beacon and the need for prism dew.
- 14If you don't have Prism Dew, return to the present. Go to the Shrine of Mysteries, take the teleportal through the blue door to Rainbow Cove. Take the northern path east and inspect the waters to obtain Prism Dew.
- 15With Prism Dew, return to Buccanham in the past and head to The Beacon, north of town.
Tips
- Goodybags drop a lot of gold but can use Whack to instantly kill a character.
- Quayhorse can use Midheal, and Wharfhorse can use Burning Breath (chance to inflict paralysis).
- Mossferatu uses Kazing to revive allies, venomous breath, ice breath (hits in the 40s), and physical attacks (40s-50s).
- Use Insulatle to reduce ice breath damage and Buff/Kabuff to reduce physical attack damage.
- Counting Sheep (Shepherd class) can put Quayhorse and Mossferatu to sleep.
- Attacks that hit all enemies or strong single-target attacks (with Oomph/Muster/Focus Strength) are effective against the seahorses.
- You may already have Prism Dew from finishing past events in Grondal.
- Glowmoss
- Prism Dew (if obtained from Rainbow Cove)
- Progression to the next part of the story.
