The Egg Hunt is one of the most iconic and fundamental mission types in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. Your objective is straightforward: locate and extract a set number of alien eggs scattered throughout the procedurally generated caves. While simple in concept, these missions can quickly escalate into chaotic battles against swarms of hostile creatures protecting their nests.

In an Egg Hunt, you'll be dropped into a cave system with a specific number of alien eggs to collect, usually ranging from 3 to 6, depending on the mission's difficulty. These eggs are often guarded by aggressive alien lifeforms, and their locations can vary widely. Your team must explore the caves, locate the eggs, and bring them back to your personal drop pod for extraction.

The gameplay loop of an Egg Hunt typically involves:

1. Exploration: Traverse the cave system, mining for resources and fending off initial enemy encounters.
2. Locating Eggs: Search for the distinctive, often glowing, alien eggs. They can be found in various locations, sometimes in hard-to-reach areas or nestled within enemy nests.
3. Collecting Eggs: Once an egg is found, you'll need to interact with it to pick it up. Carrying an egg usually slows your movement speed slightly and prevents you from using your primary weapon, making you vulnerable.
4. Defending Against Swarms: As you collect eggs, the alien creatures will become increasingly agitated and will launch coordinated attacks to reclaim their eggs or prevent further collection.
5. Transporting Eggs: You'll need to carry the collected eggs back to your drop pod. This often involves navigating back through previously explored areas, which may now be swarming with enemies.
6. Extraction: Once all eggs are collected and deposited in the drop pod, you can call for extraction and leave the planet.

Key strategies for Egg Hunts:

• Scout Ahead: Scouts are invaluable for quickly exploring large areas and locating eggs. Their mobility allows them to reach distant parts of the map efficiently.
• Designated Egg Carriers: Ass specific dwarves to carry eggs, ideally those with good survivability or mobility. While carrying, other dwarves should focus on protecting the egg carrier.
• Establish Defensive Positions: When depositing eggs or facing large swarms, find defensible positions. Engineers can set up turrets, and Drillers can create choke points.
• Ammo Management: Egg Hunts can involve sustained combat. Keep an eye on your ammo and call for Nitra resupplies when necessary.
• Prioritize Threats: During egg collection, focus on eliminating immediate threats to the egg carrier. Later waves might require broader crowd control.
• Utilize the Environment: Use cave formations for cover and to funnel enemies.
