Promotions are a key progression system in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, allowing you to reset your character's level and unlock powerful bonuses. This system encourages continued play and rewards dedication by providing significant advantages for your future runs.

To perform a Promotion, you must first reach the maximum level for your current class. Once you hit this cap, the option to Promote will become available in the character selection or progression menu. Promoting your dwarf resets their level back to 1, but it also grants you a Promotion Point.

Promotion Points are a special currency that can be spent on a dedicated Promotion Tree. This tree offers several permanent upgrades that apply to your dwarf, regardless of their current level. These upgrades can include things like increased base health, improved shield regeneration, faster movement speed, or enhanced weapon damage.

The Promotion Tree is designed to offer meaningful choices. You'll need to decide which bonuses are most beneficial for your playstyle and the classes you enjoy most. Some upgrades might be universally useful, while others might be more specialized, complementing specific weapon loadouts or mission types.

Each Promotion you perform grants you another Promotion Point, allowing you to unlock more powerful upgrades as you continue to progress. This creates a satisfying loop of leveling up, promoting, and then becoming even stronger for the next cycle. It's a system that rewards long-term engagement with the game.

Promotions are class-specific. If you promote your Scout, the Promotion Points you earn can only be spent on the Scout's Promotion Tree. This encourages players to experiment with different classes and master each one individually.

The decision of when to promote is also a strategic one. While you gain access to the Promotion Tree bonuses immediately, you might want to finish a particular mission or achieve a certain goal before resetting your level. However, the sooner you start earning Promotion Points, the sooner you can unlock those permanent buffs.
