Yhrom, the Giant

Learn how to defeat Yhorm the Giant, Lord of Cinder, in Dark Souls III. This guide covers strategies and rewards for this challenging boss fight.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Boss: Yhorm the Giant
• Location: Profaned Capital
• Weaknesses: Storm Ruler weapon skill (Storm King), Fire (minor)
• Resistances: Most other damage types

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Yhorm uses his massive machete for wide, sweeping attacks. He'll also use his Storm King skill, which is telegraphed by him raising his sword.
2. Phase 2: Yhorm becomes more aggressive, using his machete more frequently and chaining attacks. His Storm King skill might be used more often.

Strategy:

• The key to this fight is the Storm Ruler. You can find one embedded in the arena floor at the start of the fight. If you miss it, or it breaks, there's another one near the bonfire after the fight.
• Use the Storm Ruler's weapon skill, Storm King. It deals massive damage to Yhorm, especially when charged. Dodge his attacks and create openings to use the skill.
• Yhorm's attacks are slow but have massive range and damage. Learn his tells and dodge accordingly. The pillars in the arena can offer some temporary cover, but they'll be destroyed quickly.
• If you have Siegward of Catarina with you, he can significantly help by distracting Yhorm and dealing damage.
• Focus on dodging and finding opportunities to land hits with the Storm Ruler's special attack. Don't get greedy with regular attacks; they do minimal damage.
