Hey there! Let's talk about everyone's favorite treacherous merchant, Unbreakable Patches, in Dark Souls III. He pops up a few times, and how you interact with him can affect his services and even other questlines. We'll walk you through finding him and what to do at each stage.

After being betrayed in Cathedral of the Deep:

First off, if you've just had a run-in with Patches in the Cathedral of the Deep and he's betrayed you, don't worry too much. Head through the rafters towards Rosaria's Bed Chamber. You'll find Patches there. If you choose to forgive him, he'll offer you the “Prostration” gesture and a Rusted Coin. More importantly, he'll then set up shop as a merchant right there. You can even buy the Catarina armor set from him, which is crucial for continuing Siegward of Catarina's questline, so don't miss out!

After purchasing the Tower Key:

Later on, after you've bought the Tower Key, make your way up the tower located behind Firelink Shrine. You'll find a Fire Keeper Soul up there. When you return down via the lift, Patches will have a little surprise for you – he'll lock you inside the tower! To get out, you'll need to fall down the tower shaft. This will lead you out to the other side. Once you're free, head back to Firelink Shrine, near the gate where the Tower Key is used. Patches should be there. If you forgive him again this time, he'll become a permanent merchant at Firelink Shrine. Reloading the area after this will also net you the “Patches Squat” gesture.

After sending Greirat to pillage Irithyll of the Boreal Valley:

This is where things get a bit more involved. If you've sent Greirat out to pillage Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, Patches will eventually ask you about Greirat's whereabouts. At this point, he'll stop selling his wares. You need to tell him where Greirat went. If you do, Patches will disappear from Firelink Shrine. He's gone off on his own little adventure to try and save Greirat from whatever trouble he's gotten himself into. Patches won't return until you've defeated the next boss in your path.

Patches' Drops:

Should you happen to defeat Patches (though there's usually no need to unless you're going for a specific build or missed something), he'll drop some useful items:

• Patches’ Ashes
• Winged Spear
• Pierce Shield
• Horsehoof Ring
