Grierat of the Undead Settlement

Follow this guide to complete Greirat's questline in Dark Souls III, from finding Loretta's Bone to his final fate and potential rewards.

Hey there! So, you've found Loretta's Bone, huh? Awesome! First things first, head back to Firelink Shrine. Talk to Greirat there to snag a special ring. After that, refresh the area (just leave and come back) and chat with him again. He'll teach you the 'Curl Up' gesture – pretty neat! Now, the really important part: he'll offer to go pillage the Undead Settlement. If you say yes, he'll expand his inventory later on. Just remember, he won't return until you've beaten a boss.

Next up, you'll reach Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. Greirat will offer to go pillaging again. This is a crucial point, so listen up! Before you send him off, make sure you've been keeping up with the questlines for Unbreakable Patches and/or Siegward of Catarina. Here's the deal:

• If you've only recruited Patches and NOT Siegward, you absolutely *must* tell Greirat about Siegward's location before you beat the next boss.
• If you've been helping Siegward out, make sure you've exhausted all his dialogue options in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley before you take down the next boss. Missing these steps can have consequences for Greirat!

Later on, you'll get to Lothric Castle. Greirat will offer to go pillaging one more time. This is the final stretch for him, and honestly, he's going to die no matter what you do to try and save him during this particular expedition. It's a bit grim, I know.

How to potentially keep him alive: If you don't want him to go on this last dangerous trip, just refuse his offer to pillage. He'll stick around safely in Firelink Shrine.

What happens if you send him: If you do send him out on this last run, you can actually retrieve his ashes later at the Grand Archives. This allows the Shrine Handmaiden to gain access to some extra items. So, it's a trade-off: Greirat's life for some extra loot from the Handmaiden.
